BESH is BACK for Spring. Come in, admire the cocktail bar stylings I have created for you. It's all lowlights and smooth sounds, and there's a rehearsal room in back for the GLEE practice.

The barman are beautiful, the Pit has been well stocked with beanbags and gin. So roll up all you 30-something BESHies who stopped counting cycles sometime in the last century, and grab a martini.

Oh Medee bollocks to the spotting. I demand it goes way.

I WANT CHIPS!

Did anyone else find that "daddy or chips" ad of yore a bit sinister? As if the little girl was chosing which one to eat?

PerfectDromedary · 27/05/2010 20:05

Medallion evil spotting. Grrr.

Scorpette · 27/05/2010 20:17

Graaahhhhh to spotting. No no NO!

Daddy or chips was indeed sinister. 'S chips, obvy.

Medee · 27/05/2010 22:02

what did you have Aries?

Sadly, we have to plan our meals out week at a time, otherwise we have no inspiration and end up eating pasta. Magazines like the Sainsbury's magazine and Olive are good for mid-week quick meal ideas.

Ariesgirl · 27/05/2010 22:13

I had spaghetti carbonara. Bought. He had Tesco's veggi lasagne. I really must learn to like cooking. But then I am VERY busy and important.

Medee · 27/05/2010 22:18

it can be hard to keep cooking properly when you are both working hard and knackered.

Muser · 27/05/2010 22:38

Nigel Slater's Real Fast Food is good for quick meals. I am rubbish at cooking at the moment. I just cannot be bothered.

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 27/05/2010 22:48

I have that! I have several cookbooks, mostly given to me by pitying relatives - I just never use any of them. We're living a a crappy rented cottage at the moment and the kitchen is rubbish and the oven is awful. When I lived in my old house and I had lots of space and an ok oven and more inclination to try new things more often, I find the problem with cookbooks is that I open them, full of good intentions and then I'm faced with a list of ingredients I don't have or I have never heard of. I can make a few traditional things well such as lasagne, shepherd's pie, roast and cauliflower bake (DON"T LAUGH!) but other than that I'm afraid I am just a lazy moose. My mother despairs of me. "How will you feed a baby?" How do most people?

Ariesgirl · 27/05/2010 22:50

By the way, Scorps, I'm impressed at the way you jumped from Ariesgirl to GirlsWorld in one smooth manoeuvre!

Muser · 27/05/2010 22:54

"How will you feed a baby?" A question crying out for the answer "with my tits".

Ariesgirl · 27/05/2010 22:58

I know. Or even with a bottle. But certainly not on Nigel Slater recipes.

Ignore her - she's mental!

Scorpette · 27/05/2010 23:02

Just call me the Cultural Reference Queen, bebeh!

I got TYF the 'Economy Gastronomy' cookbook for his birthday last year. Is all about maximising ingredients and leftovers and making better-than-normal quick and easy meals. I also heart my Leon cookbook (and my new fave to drool over is Thomasina Myer's Mexican Food Made Simple).

I really like quinoa - not only does it only take 15 mins to cook and is yummy and versatile, you can now get it in microwaveable sachets by Merchant Gourmet that only take a min [domestic slattern emoticon]. We love it with poached salmon and broccoli. So healthy and totally delish. Is great now TYF has learnt to cook and is so good at it.

Scorpette · 27/05/2010 23:06

Babies love a nice KFC, don't they? Problem sorted.

Ariesgirl · 27/05/2010 23:06

God, I'm feeling more and more useless. You see, I have Economy Gastronomy too! Right, that's it. I Will Learn To Cook. Um yes...quinoa. Remind me what that is again?

Ariesgirl · 27/05/2010 23:12

Night all.

Casserole · 27/05/2010 23:13

EVERYONE loves a nice KFC.

I had homemade spaghetti carbonara. It was all right. Not fabulous. I am actually quite a good cook but never quite mastered carbonara sauce...

Scorpette · 27/05/2010 23:15

Quinoa. Pronounced 'Keen-wa'. Looks a bit like tasty frogspawn when cooked. Is only grain that is technically a protein. Is v yummy. Available from health food shops and better supermarkets. That Merchant Gourmet sachet is available from Sainsbury's. Don't forget, I know about the slightly more unusual things cos having allergies makes you have to try different stuff.

Casserole · 27/05/2010 23:17

That's the saddest thing ever, isn't it? And I'm talking to women who rummage through their gussets at their desks

Actually what's even sadder is how cross I am that their opening hours aren't listed.

Casserole · 27/05/2010 23:21

Bollocks. Looks like they're shut.

Where's the "massive wailing" emoticon?

Scorpette · 27/05/2010 23:38

Medee · 28/05/2010 08:02

excellent late night ramblings, Stewpot!

Just logging on before heading off to Important Work Thing to report that my temp dropped this morning and the spotting is getting pinker. Bollocks. I think I am most disappointed because this was "last try before going to the doctor" and now I have to go to the doctor. Bah.

Right, now that is out of my system, time to focus.

See you later ladies, xxx

PollyPoo · 28/05/2010 08:54

Ugh you are all wrong. KFC is the food of the devil.

Medee sorry about the pink panther. Get thyself to the docs woman and good luck.

Cam glad things moving with the AC, it is a Good Thing, but can see why you'd be apprehensive too. Big smooches my lovely.

maswera · 28/05/2010 08:55

Bah, sorry medee, it was sounding good an' all FUCKSTICKS
