I really want to TTC baby no4 but everytime i go to speak to DH about it I back out. I just dont know 100% how he will react and not sure i want the idea to be rejected (at least at the moment i can dream!lol)

I am suffering from undiagnosed abdo pain atm so cant ttc for the foreseeable future but would like to plan to start after i have this pain sorted.

It sounds like you've got a catch22 situation going on here, as you don't know what DH thinks, but you don't want to ask in case you don't like the answer...

Can you wait until after your abdominal issues are resolved before discussing it with him, or do you want to know now?

Sorry to come back with questions, but I don't think anybody else can really answer this one for you!

your right... its the fear of not liking his answer that puts me off bringing this up.

With all the stress that im under at the moment wih one thing or another i really want this one thing to look forward to.

Well I think I would not properly talk about it yet, but I would say something to start to test the waters.
Something like...I can't quite bring myself to throw away the baby things...or say you saw a pregnant woman and it made you remember your own pregnancies very fondly (that may be completely inappropriate for you I guess). I would let him react however he reacts and act as if I wasn't really paying attention, I may even laugh along if he said that having 4 was a terrible idea.

I would then wait for a long while before saying anything similar again. And then a while after that I might bring it up as a serious proposition.
It's a long game, but you have the time.

I can see that it's important for you to have something to look forward to - does sound as if you have a lot on your plate at the moment.

I'm no good at being casual, so I would have to raise it with DH quite directly. But I might have a backup line of something like "well, we don't need to make a decision now" up my sleeve if he seemed not keen.

I just did a thread a bit like this..
Its really difficult to know what they are thinking.. so a good way to find out would be like e3chick said... kind of bring it up indirectly? Then you will get a fair idea of his thoughts?

If you don't want to risk having your dreams shattered then what about waiting until you have the pain sorted.. atleast then you can dream for a bit longer either way. Then put it to him?

Just out of interest, what are your age gaps? If you still have a little baby, maybe it hasn't even occured to him yet? that theres a possibility that you want another one yet?

IsItMeOr: i can't be casual either, i like to know exactly whats happening and when!

I waited til he was busy con the computer/watching tv/reading, and said "I would like another baby" He said "Mmmm", I took that as agreement and green light to get pg. Worked well for me

spendalittlelivealot · 13/05/2010 20:14

i cant wait, gonna have to just come out with it! just havent found the right way or time yet... xx
