AF got me, no surprise!
Lychees - my level was 21, but why not ask your Gp to test in one or 2 months time, as it could have just been one lowish month (20's is equivocal for ovulation), and if it is higher next month it will encourage you. Although annoying - lowering stress will help! That is something I have been working on. Though our prob is not just my levels but DH's sperm count and poor motility - which has worsened again on 3rd test for him.

Have HSG on Wednesday, so half a day off work. So not looking forward to it.

GiraffeMummy like your attitude

boba82 · 04/07/2010 14:45

Hello everyone, not been on for a couple of days and has taken me ages to read all that and catch up!

Baby re the ov pain I seem to get it on and off throughout the cycle, moves sides and sharpness so have no idea what it is. How's acupuncture going? I'm really enjoying mine and find it sooo relaxing, totally fell asleep last week which was a tad embarrasing .

Lychees If only life and destressing was as simple as just doing it eh?! I feel like telling people to F off when they tell me to just relax and not to worry. Re your earlier post I don't have an appointment yet but had initial letter and they said it was only a 12 week wait so hopefully by September we will have been seen.

Essence yay! You'll soon be back joining us obsessing over TTC! Glad your DS is ok.

Pink sorry AF got you.

Keziah Sorry about AF and good luck for Wed hun. You feeling more positive about things again? x

Update for me, I reset CBFM on CD 41 as knew AF wasn't coming and wanted to follow cycle. Got my first ever peak yesterday and another today!! Have not mentioned yet to DH as don't want to put him off . FX the SWI works this time. Can't believe how excited I was to see a peak, god help me if I ever do get a BFP.

OP posts:

LOL am I glad you lot are back .....

Boba Yay for the Peak....I really hope this is your month hun x

Keziah Best Wishes for Wednesday, I hope it goes well.

Giraffemummy I wish I could take a leaf out of your book mate, I really do....

Well 7DPO, still got that funny sensation in my tummy and still pretty tired. However had a really lovely weekend so far. Its our 4th Anniversay today so was treated to a Thai meal last night and this morning woke up to Bacon Butties, fresh coffee (naughty caffiene) and an All expenses paid Spa day, with facials, mud wraps, manicures and massages to use whenever I want - oooh it is nice to be spoiled once in a while.
Felt like a right plonka though cos at the beginning of the week we said we wouldn't buy each other pressies..........SO I DIDN'T get him anything apart from a card.. WHAT A COW!!

Lychees · 04/07/2010 22:04

Sounds like you've had a lovely anniversary, Storm.

Sorry AF got you, Keziah. Hope Wednesday goes well.

Boba, I am thinking of try acupuncture to relax. Do you have to have it once a week? Sadly, I don't know if I can find the time to go every week.

Hello, Everybody Else .

I forgot to check my monitor after putting a stick in it this morning and when I went to jump in the shower just now, I saw it on the shelf. So thought I'd check but I wasn't really expecting anything but a low. And I got a peak ... on CD12 which is mega-early for me. AF only left me 5 days ago! And we haven't BDd for almost a fortnight [we've just been too knackered] so it's an early night for me tonight. I hope I haven't missed my chance. Seems like my hormones are a bit all over the place, too.

Keziahhopes · 05/07/2010 00:14

Ooh Boba your peak - that is so exciting!! And Lychees yes I found peaks have varied, that is why I like the CBFM, as well as just reminding me where I am in my cycle as I never was very good at remembering!!

Morning Everyone....

Boba I don't think your stats are correct as you reset the CBFM at day 41?!?!?

Lychees

My moods are so swingy......feel quite low this morning for some reason. Those dull achy pains disappeared yesterday afternoon and then returned with a massive YOUCH from me as I drove to work this morning - it was a very sharp pain and wasn't very nice!!!

8DPO - when should I test???
Very reluctant to cos I'm scared of the BFN!!

boba82 · 05/07/2010 10:43

Morning all

Storm I reset at CD41 to keep track of my cycle but AF not arrived yet. What a lovely husband you have . Re POAS I would really wait until day AF due hun as it is hearbreaking getting the BFN, easier said than done though I know as I am a recovering POASaholic!

Lychees the place I go for acupuncture does evenings 2 nights a week so I go straight after work. Lots of places do a Sat as well so worth a phone around. Congrats on the peak as well, did you get your early night ? My DH can't believe his luck me pouncing on him every night!

OP posts:
StormTTCbabyNo1 · 05/07/2010 13:09

Thanks Boba he's a Diamond - I don't know what I'd do without him and I'm sure most would't put up with me to be fair .

I am so scared its going to be a BFN no matter how much I tell myself its only the first month, I can't expect miracles etc etc etc. So I've bought some tests from Amazon, a couple of cheapies and a CB Digital one, just in case. But they won't be here for another 5 working days or so, so thats an excuse not to test til AF is due. I just can't stop thinking about it. Its driving me mad!

xxx

chocciechip · 05/07/2010 13:27

Hi ladies .... been very busy recently so not posted much but have been lurking. Boba if you re-set your CBFM at CD 41, and AF not arrived, approximately what CD do you think you'll be ovulating? Might be worth making a note of that info in case you need it later.

Storm At 8DPO I can quite confidently tell you if you test today it'll be a BFN. I'm afraid testing early won't actually help you know anything at all; you'll most likely only be making the test manufacturers richer. Fertility Friend have done a pregnancy test study using thousands of charts on their database and this is what they find.

Average Day Past Ovulation (DPO) for the first positive pregnancy test: 13.6 DPO

Average DPO for the first "false" negative test result: 10.3 DPO

Percentage of pregnancy charts with a positive test at 10 DPO: 10%

Percentage of pregnancy charts which show negative results before a positive result: 17%

Average time between the expected period and the first positive pregnancy test: 0.5 days before the expected period.

Percentage of negative test results taken three days or more before the expected period day on non pregnant charts: 40.7%

AFM, my CBFM almost let me down this month. It went straight from low to peak for the first time ever. Thank god I chart as well, or DH and I would't have been SWI'ing around the right time.

Lychees · 05/07/2010 15:40

Chocciechip, those stats are really interesting. Especially the one about the average DPO for a postive.

Also, I went from low to peak yesterday so BD'd last night but worried we missed the window because my peak was unusually early and we had not BD'd for a little while beforehand.

Boba, if AF arrives in the next few weeks I shall look into having acupuncture near my office so that I can go after work. Also, good news about your peaks.

Storm, sounds like a good plan to keep you from testing early.

Hello Everyone Else!

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 05/07/2010 19:50

Thanks for the advice chocciechip its definately made me think twice about testing, in fact its made me more determined not to test until Sunday or Monday if I get there before AF arrives. I have to say though, I've got a gut feeling AF will be here before that!

My dull aches are getting a little more intense so this is why I reckon its not my month!

Thanks again

xx

Hello all

Storm - Indeed your DH is fantastic! What a lovely treat.

choccichip - thanks for sharing those stats. Helps keep everything in perspective!

Lychees - hope you caught that window!

This month, I had a high on CD15&16, I forgot to POAS on day17 and then had a peak on day 18. On day 19 it didn't ask me to test and automatically gave me a peak and then automatically gave me a high on day 20 and then automatic lows after that. Is it normal that it will assume that much in the second cycle of using it?

Lychees · 06/07/2010 13:31

It has done that for me several times Essence because it tends to ask me to poas from CD9 and then I don't get my first peak until CD18. From what I remember, I have only ever had to use twenty sticks in my first cycle of using it.

Waves to everybody. How are you all doing today?

I got my high after my peaks today so guess I'll be back to lows tomorrow [but still poas for four more days] and the dreaded 2ww.

If I don't get my BFP by the 20 something of August, it's back to the DRs for me.

boba82 · 06/07/2010 13:38

That's what it's just done with me Essence. Two peaks, one high then back to lows today. Don't know if it's normal though?

Thanks choccie that's a good idea, will mark my peaks on my calendar.

Bad news on DH's 2nd sperm analysis. Don't know exact terminology as DH had phone appt with GP & I wasn't there but what I can gather volume etc was good and ther e were some normal sperm but quite a lot of abnormal - something to do with the tails? GP said not to worry as fertility clinic should be able to help. Bloody men, that's all I could get out of him. I would've written it down but not DH!

Also I had a light bleed yesterday but has disappeared. Anyone else had this around OV?

OP posts:
Starlet22 · 06/07/2010 14:19

Afternoon ladies, hope everyone is well.

Keziah just wanted to say good luck for tomorrow - I hear that fertility can be increased after having an HSG so fingers crossed for you!

Lychees/Boba my CBFM also went from a low straight to a peak this month. How strange.

Boba, sorry to hear about DH's SA - although positive that GP said fertility clinic can help i.e. not a lost cause.

I should get the results from my second set of bloods this week. Asked the nurse re the first set and she said they just came back "normal" so am planning to quiz GP when the second set comes back.

BabyHoping · 06/07/2010 15:59

Hi everyone,

I went to the doctor today... I told them we have been trying, really trying since january and nothing... He told us that as I have irregular cycles and DH had an abnormal sperm test, he will do some extra exams. He did not think it was early to go... and also (I know this is a bit scary) but with my age doctors do not want to wait too much.

So I will go back to the doctor in a few days to see if the egg has grown (I´m in the beggining of the cycle, doctors says I have a few more days to ovulate) and we have to BD in the previous days cause the doctor says he can see if the sperm is able to reach the falopian tubes, amount that reaches and if it still moving!!! I was amazed by this info, I did not know they could see it... We will see what happens, and if there is reason for concern... Really, it was enough already to have problems with miscarriages i did not want to have problems in getting pregnant also... sniff

The other update is that I went for the second time to my acunpunture session and I´m loving it! It really helps me relax!

BabyHoping · 06/07/2010 16:07

Storm how are you feeling? I think it is a great idea to only test when AF is due... From my experience testing too early only adds more stress. I know its hard but try to keep your mind busy.

Boba sorry to hear about DH but its true there are several stuff you can do to improve sperm, including very easy things like trying vitamins. My DH is taking some. About the bleeding, do you think AF is coming? I heard about some bleeding around ovulation is possible (the egg ruptures the ovary when it leaves)but I think its quite uncommon. There can also be some bleeding after implantation (I had it on my first pregnancy 6 days before AF was due)

boba82 · 06/07/2010 16:33

babyhoping I don't know about AF, given up on trying to time that! Just cause I got 2 peaks on CBFM, totally confusing but it has stopped now anyway.

Are you seeing a private doctor? Seems quite impressive tests etc for a NHS GP. Sorry if I'm being too nosy!x

OP posts:
BabyHoping · 06/07/2010 16:43

Hi boba, no you are not being too nosy! Yes it is a private doctor, with all this problems I gave up the other one and I have a very good health insurance which covers a part of all this appointments and tests. This one is already an infertility doctor and requires some investment but I want so much to have a family... DH was very supportive he also thinks we should invest on this project although he got a bit shocked with the price of the appointment ;)

Starlet22 · 06/07/2010 17:15

Good luck, "Babyhoping*, the tests sound very impressive (am tempted to investigate costs for private tests on reading that thread!).

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 06/07/2010 18:52

Hi Everyone

Hope your all doing ok!

Babyhoping nice to hear from you. Since Chocciechip very kindly dragged me back down to earth with those great stats, I have had no urge to test and I feel much happier about the whole situation. I'm just going to wait and let nature take its course. If AF hasn't arrived by Sunday then I'll consider testing depending on how I feel. Tummy is still aching, it was moving from one side to the other, now the ache is straight across the front of my tummy and sometimes I feel it in my back by I'm sure its AF pains...hey ho. I have been rather dizzy and hot today though, had a couple of dizzy spells come to think of it hmmm..... LOL!

Boba sorry about DH's SA - fingers crossed for an easy resolution hun.

Babyhoping I know it depends in where you are in the UK but how much, if you don't mind me asking, are you forking out for these acupuncture sessions. I've always wanted to try it and if this month isn't my month then I have an excuse?

Chocciechip I might nick your stats and use them on some other MNers I know that are struggling on the 2WW. Hope you don't mind

x

Keziahhopes · 06/07/2010 22:48

babyhoping - wow never heard of such tests!! Sounds amazing.

Boba - no consolation I know but my dh has problems with morphology (sperm swimming/moving) also ... but the dr said as men get a fresh supply of sperm every 3 months worth getting another set of tests (have 3 now!!) and all different. I do wonder if the heat made this set much worse than the others. Was it both sets of SA that were like this?? If not, is it worth asking for another test 3months from the 2nd set? Dr also tested hormone profile of dh - blood test.

Boba - why not go with dh to see gp about his test results? Have you been referred to fertility clinic at hospital now?

Starlet - thank you ... am nervous they find more wrong, but good tip about increased fertility!! Thanks

Morning All.

Good luck for your HSG today, Keziah.

Babyhoping, your DR sounds great. It definitely makes me wonder whether we should try to find the money to go private. How did you decide on that clinic/DR?

Boba sorry about DH's SA. Hope your appointment comes through soon.

chocciechip · 07/07/2010 10:08

Here are some more stats for you storm - taken from a different thread. I don't know what the original source was. The FF study deals with averages so a bit different. The real wake-up is that only three quarters of women will get a +'ve at 14DPO. It REALLY is a waste of money to test early and just aggravates stress. With charting, they recommend 18 successive high temps after ovulation, so 18DPO - which is sort of in line with the stats below.

The percentages of those who get their BFPs on set dpo are as follows:
10dpo=35%
11dpo=51%
12dpo=62%
13dpo=68%
14dpo=74%
15dpo=80%
16dpo=88%
17dpo=92%
an d there are some who have not got their BFP until 21dpo

lychees does your monitor ask you to poas for four days after your peaks??? Mine's never done that. Today it asked me to poas one day after my peaks and that was very unusual.

boba I always get two peaks and then a high and then back to lows. The manual says it should give you two peaks as well, so I think normal. So frustrating not to know the detail of your DH's tests. Could you not ask the surgery to print them out and then go collect them? That's what we've done with my DH's results.

babyhoping I am and (but not at you) for your gp taking your age seriously. I am 39 and although I keep being told I've had MCs because of my age NO ONE is doing anything to help me. You're so lucky. We've pushed for appointment to fertility clinic but I'm not convinced we'll get it.

keziah Hope today went OK. I've had an HSG and the thought of them is worse than the actual event itself. Let us know how you get on. x

I've probably got test results for me sitting at the GP - FSH, E2 and LH tests - and I can't pluck up the courage to get the results. Feeling very fragile at the moment and unable to get any more bad news.
