Progesterone cream - can it make you really emotional?

Hi. I used Serenity Progesterone cream from ovulation until AF this month for the first time.

Since AF arrived I've been an emotional wreck.

I have to add that I had an MC in Feb and I was really hopeful this month that I would get a positive cos so many people say' "You're more fertile straight after an MC!"

So obviously the extreme emotion could be down to all that.(But I was ok when AF arrived last month - before I started the cream.)

I just wonder if all these tears and sadness could be down to the additional progesterone in the second half of the cycle.

Did anyone else experience this with the cream? I'm not sure whether to use it again this month

I have used progesterone cream before. I was ok when i used it on its own, but then mistakenly used it when I went back on the pill as i thought the extra progesterone would stop the bleeding quicker.

Big mistake, I was completely volatile , found it hard to sleep and felt depressed until I realised what the problem was caused by.

However having said that it was ok when I wasn't on any other medication and did serve to lengthen my cycle, although we didn't end up with another DC.

Why are you using it, are you trying to lengthen cycle ? Maybe go a month without it and see how you feel .

Yes, I was using it to try to extend my luteal phase - currently about 10 days.(If anything this cycle was shorter, so it didn't have an immediate impact!)

I think i will go a month without it to see if it really was the cream or if I was just a bit overly loopy all by myself this month.

ps. Sorry to hear that you didn't get the extra DC you were hoping for. It really is a total rollercoaster ride isn't it?

I have just been for op to clear out endometriosis so we can give it one last shot, I'm 40 though and get very painful periods due to the endo so am not holding my breath

I have endo too. I found that the laser treatment really worked for me and gave me a clear slate to try. I'm sure it's why i conceived my first son so quickly (but i was 33 then). Good luck. ps. I'm 43!!!!!

I haven't used the cream but was on duphaston(duphasoton) for 10days a month and it made me feel really tearful and emotional.
I had some endometrial cysts on my overies which were causing a lot of pain during my periods.

I had the option of being in agony for 3 days or tearful and miserable for 10 days and i chose the pain. I wasn't trying to get pregnant though.

should just make it clear that duphaston is progesterone in a tablet form.

Thanks for that bruffin. It would seem maybe that preogesterone could be responsible for my extra loopyness this month.
