Very new to all this - babies, acronyms and message boards!

Hi All,

I'm very new to all this, by which I mean baby-making and using message boards. It's nice to have somewhere to go to when you are trying to keep your spawning activities on the QT!

I'm 28 (for the next 2 weeks at any rate!) and TTC#1 (See, getting the lingo already - fast learner ). I came off the pill last month and we got going straight away so all I have had is my end of month 'pill period'. I am 5 days late now (based on a 28 day cycle) but also 2 BFN (see told you I was a quick leaner!) tests down. I wasn't surprised but I was incredibly disappointed which was nice as I wasn't hugely sure I was ready for babies (of course I want them, it's just mentally I still feel like a teenager!)!

So no sign of a mini-us or AF.

I had been on the pill for 10 and a half years (where did the time go?!)

I would really appreciate hearing of anyone in a similar position. How long did it take for people's cycles to return to 'normal' etc

I love that there is somewhere to go to ask these personal questions and post.

Welcome to MN vallinnapod we're a friendly bunch I promise!

It can take a little while for your body to settle into its own natural rhythm so I wouldn't think of myself as 'late' if I were you. Can you remember how long your cycles were before you went on your pill? Cycle day 1 (CD1) is the day your period starts just incase you're not sure! Give your self time to have a 'proper' period so you can start to observe how your body changes over the course of your cycle and come and join the February bus if you need a bit of company xxx

Hi I came off pill beginning of jan after being on it about 10 years and I am all over the place had one period 12 feb then next 1 April and still waiting for next its very frustrating all the waiting and not knowing what's going on but I think it can take a while for your body to settle down. Good luck hope all goes well for u!

hi vallinnapod, came off the pill in January. I'm 34 this coming June, hubby is 36. TTC #1. My cycles are anything between 21 and 26 days (last one; probably due to overseas travel and sunburn). We've bought some ovulation tests and am also monitoring cervix mucus for ovulation symptoms. Getting bit unpatient as wanted to be pregnant much earlier and worried that it is a bit late (getting old). Also thinking of talkingto GP about some tests. IN general need some company in my impatience

Hi - I came off pill last Christmas, having been on it for 10 years too. My next cycles were 32, 25 and 28 days. Can't even remember how long they were before I went on the pill. Then I got - briefly - preganant last month. Had a mcand now wondering how long it will take for next period to arrive. Who knows what normal is!

Hello ladies!

Well, CD43 now and no sign of AF or a BFP (oh how easy these acronyms take...!) Frustrating to say the least!

Sorry about your MC littleyellowchicken.

I went to the docs, not out of worry (a bit premature for that!) but to say we're trying etc, expecting some sort of health check...nadda, not one Q about anything. No 'take pre-natal vits' or any advice, I was quite shocked really.

hi vanillapod, can feel your frustration. Have heard that GPs are rather useless in that respect. I am taking folic acid, nothing else and trying no to overdo on the alcohol and caffeine fronts.
Fingers crossed for your BFP.
