I use Clearblue digital as you get a definate smiley face on them - i have a short LH surge though so use another opk in the afternoon - usually from the internet and they are pretty cheap but ive always seen a definate LH surge on them, they are just a little more difficult to interpret thats all. I would use both just incase you miss your surge, i would like to use the clearblue twice a day but they are pretty expensive to start with so i combine with the internet ones.

Thats a good idea, aren't you suppose to check it same time everyday?

And when do you start using them, the you finish your period, sorry so many questions i have never used them before.

Well i first started to use them 3 months ago but have used them before. Basically you are supposed to test every day at the same time, The strange thing is that with Clearblue digital they do recommend first morning urnine (fmu) but with other opks you are supposed to test in the afternoon because the luteinizing hormone that is detected before you ovulate generally synthesizes when you have been up for 4 hours or more.
I use the clearblue digitals first thing and last month i got a positive opk from that first thing on cycle day16 but today there was nothing, i was a bit and i ended up thinking that perhaps i am not going to ovulate this month (that happens sometimes) but i always do a back up internet test in the afternoon and i did one at lunchtime and it was neg then i had some period type pain at around 3.30 this afternoon so tested as i was expecting ovulation sometime soon and voila! a positive opk, i double checked with a clearblue digi one (which i would have used tomorrow morning) and got the smiley face too so that tells me i will be ovulating within the next 24-48 hours. As i said some peoples LH surge are quite short and definately less than 24 hours so its worth testing twice a day i think (or three times today after i got ov pain)
You start using them according to how long your cycle is: so if you are on a 28 day cycle then you start testing at day 11 or a 30 day cycle day 12 ect - the pack will have instructions anyway to tell you when to test. Have you thought about charting too? I havent actually done it myself but might give it a go sometime soon in conjunction with opks. Hope this helps

Brilliant thank you.

I dont have a clue about charting or anyhting like that. Is that where you take your temp, right it down? and when it goes up your ovulating?

I might just try it, see if it all comes together like a surge line and higher temp.

It's all fun, but im sure if i have to do this more than once it wont be as fun!!

babylove I seriously recommend fertilityfriend.com if you're new to charting. However, it can become a bit obsessional, so be warned!
