Depo injection - how long did it take to wear off?

Have just started TTC again but have no regular cycle since last depo in November. Cycle was always irregular before but this is getting silly now. I have on & off sore boobs & stomach cramps but no actual firm evidence of where I am in my cycle at all.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

ii am afraid to say that i did have probs coming off the depo - over a year and no periods. Doctor was on the ball and sent me for a scan. All came back OK and then they started 2 weeks later! He did say if they didn't i could have a booster ?! i never got that far but there is a thought.

How about making an appointment with your GP?

By the by i now have a lovely baby boy!

Good luck - and don't forget many a woman has fallen pregnant without the period!

Hi, I came off depo when TTC DD. Had the last one about the November too, then had periods from the January but with a wildly varying cycle length (between about 21-36 dats if I remember rightly). TBH they never regulated as I got pg with DD in the June time after about 6 cycles or so.

Thanks for your replies. GP just said "how long is a piece of string?" when I asked if there was an average time for periods to return. I was on depo for a few years before having DD but swapped to the pill just before TTC so didn't have the same delay in getting back on track.

Thing is, I could already be PG but have no way of knowing if it's too early in the cycle to POAS. And having had 2 MCs in the past I'm not keen to find out too early again.

When did it all get so confusing? The years of trying NOT to get pregnant were so much easier!

Not what you will want to hear but....it was 18 months before I had a proper period, had PMT etc but no ovulation/bleeding. It was a good job I stopped the depo because I put on weight rather than TTC at the time. That said my friend only waited 3 months so it does seem to be very variable.

You could already be fertile even without a proper cycle - sex every 2-3 days should cover it, more if you can manage
