Negative test - is it wrong?

I may just be being overly optimistic, but I just tested this evening and it's negative. Obviously, I'm gutted, but I don't believe it's right and am therefore not getting upset.

This is TTC round 4 now and AF is due today. Like everyone else, I am busting to be pg. My symptoms are:
Painful boobs, increased sense of smell, stuffy nose(?!), being more tearful than normal (since today) and a general feeling that AF is not coming to see me this month (not particularly reliable, I know!)

So, now I'm waiting for AF, or Friday/Saturday to test again. In the meantime though, have any of you ever been in this situation and it was wrong? I'd love to hear from anyone who has!

P.S. The pain in my boobs is more of a sharp, stabbing pain, rather than being tender - is this normal(ish)?

I wish you the best of luck when you next test. But i had myself convinced this month with symptoms that sound similar to yours and even with a BFN i still thought i could be. Then AF was late by two days but it still showed up.

I hope you have a different result than i did.

If you search the internet there are indeed many stories where they have got a false negative from a test and people have got a negative test but are then 20 weeks pregnant.

I have done the same the last two months and hoped it was wrong but alas it was not and period soon showed up.

Hope it is a false neg for you. Doing the right thing by testing in a few days - fingers crossed for you.

I got a BFN. Was relieved. No AF, so tested 3 days later and got a faint BFP. Who is now 3

Yup, same as elvislives, got BFN, then tested two days later and BFP (who is coming up 2 now ) But, my cycles were all over the place after coming off depo injection.

Last month I had myself convinced too with sore boobs, sicky feeling etc but AF showed up so just PMS symptoms. It's really hard waiting, but in my lmited experience it could be either.
