I am such a HUSSY! Last night I had unprotected sex...

With my husband, fully intentionally, but still... the first time ever is MIGHTY SCARY.

Am currently living in fear of my mother calling, because I'm convinced she'll just know somehow. It's like being 17 and slinking back from my first ever holiday with friends, tail between my legs, virginity no longer in tact, all over again!

So, TTC for definite, am I meant to get on some kind of bus now??

Ha ha, thanks Lucy.

No DC between us, in fact no previous attempts at DC, which is what makes going au naturel for the first time in over a decade so mind-boggling. It feels like running out in front of traffic just for fun...!

I was 30andLurking here for a while, and I've been popping in and out of the 'just shagging' thread here because the dates and the counting and the buses (what the hell are the buses all about?!) totally confused me. I seem to be regular as clockwork, which having come of the pill 2 months ago, was reassuring, but I'm sure my body will throw in some little curve ball soon!

No CD (damnit, missed a trick there!), but I did set up a fake 'belated anniversary' meal out beforehand so we could pretend we were really celebrating that! And I did get out the good pants - the ones that come in pink and black boxes in case DH needed some distracting from what was really going on!

Hey!

Totally totally agree, the first time au naturel is REALLY SCARY.. we were the exact same! It's fantastic though but really scary!

Keep a track of what day your last period was and then that's CD1..

When we started 'ttc' we just kept our sex lives going as normal but ultimately then I got a wee bit frustrated so started taking ov kits to know for sure and it worked so far so fingers crossed :-)

30andMerkin · 31/03/2010 18:02

okaayyy, thanks Happy what's the 'CD' bit of 'CD1'??

It stands for Current Day, so i.e., what day of the cycles are you on. I only recently learned that myself

Jules

Glad I've found some people in the same place as me. Bit scared, bit excited - have no idea what all the acronyms mean though!

MsKitten · 31/03/2010 22:00

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who feels like this . I'm 36 and married but I felt really guilty when we had unprotected sex for the first time 2 weeks ago. Its weird after spending the last number of years trying to avoid getting pregnant.

OnlyWantsOne · 01/04/2010 09:54

Merkin! you naughty naughty woman

30andMerkin · 01/04/2010 10:38

Agreed MsKitten - apparently it takes a ridiculously long time to undo an in grained habit so if I've been determinedly NOT getting pregnant for the past 13 years or so, does that mean it's going to take me another decade before I get used to the idea!

lol I felt exactly the same!! You try so hard for so long not to get pregnant "and disappoint your parents"! and now everytime I see my mum I swear she'll be able to tell!!

Just about to start our second month now; hoping we get used to it this time. It freaked DH out a bit last month and he went off the idea, but I've managed to re-convince him

The buses are good when you know your period is due and you're counting down the days. Lots of people in the same position and a useful list which is updated everyday - its exciting when you get to the top of the list...but rubbish when you don't get to "graduate" (as in move to the ante-natal thread)

Hope to see you on the January bus

AmandaCooper · 03/04/2010 20:42

So let me get this right - you work out what month you would conceive if you got pregnant this cycle - and that's the bus you "get on" - and then you get off it and get on the next month's bus if you don't conceive?

LaRagazzaInglese · 04/04/2010 00:30

I thought CD meant cycle day? like first day of your period is cycle day one CD1, they don't always update the acronyms page. Good luck

CaveMum · 04/04/2010 08:56

Hello ladies! I've been around here for a few months but spend most of my time on the First Time Frolickers thread (here in the Conception forum) - for those of us trying to conceive for the very first time. Eek!

It's a great place to hang out and everyone is very supportive. No question is too daft - beleive me I've asked plenty so far!

As far as the acronyms go ask away! There is bound to be someone else who doesn't understand but is too afraid to ask! Took me ages to figure out what the flamin heck EWCM was (egg white cervical mucus in case you're interested!).
If you're too scared to ask - use the "Acronym" tab near the top of the page. It will take you through the basics!

PandaSam · 05/04/2010 12:18

Amanda yes, thats right. So depending what cycle day you are on and when AF is due you'll either be on the December bus or the January bus.

CaveMum also took me ages to work out EWCM - which incidentally are also my bosses initials and how we usually refer to him in emails etc. Always makes me laugh now!

AmandaCooper · 05/04/2010 12:30

Thanks for the explanation. If all goes to plan then I'm hoping to be on the September 2011 bus. I might do some more shopping while I wait, maybe pop into Greggs!

LaRagazzaInglese · 05/04/2010 14:37

lol PandaSam! what unfortunate initials! (in an MN world)
