Can't really think where else to put this, and pretty sure some of you must be familiar with charting, so hope you ttc ladies don't mind.

Started AF 2 days ago, but my BBT hasn't come down out of the 98 range. Last month it came down to 97's as it should do when AF started.

Have only dtd once this cycle, on safe day, and DH didn't finish the job anyway (getting a bit ancient, tires him out ), so pg highly unlikely.

Length of cycle this time is 20 days, luteal phase only 8 days. I feel ok, not ill or anything..

So, wise ladies, any ideas what's going on?

Hi mooncup I'm not 100% certain but I'm fairly sure a luteal phase of 8 days is not long enough to sustain a pregnancy. I think the minimum is something like 10 - 12 days. It might be worth investigating. There are lots of people far more knowledgable on here than me!

I do chart and tend to find my temp is usually higher during AF.

Hope that helps xx

Hi there,

It might be that you're coming down with a v minor virus or something, that's keeping your temp up even though your AF has started?? And I think sometimes you can have a delayed temp fall anyway (though this is prob unlikely if you've been charting for a while and it doesn't normally happen for you). Is it definitely full-blown AF? (I ask because I'm currently pg and the month I conceived I got 5 days of light implantation bleeding, which I was so sure was AF that I downed a bottle of wine the night it arrived, but then got a positive pg test the next day ). So if your bleeding is very light then it's possible....

Also, on the short luteal phase thing... I also have an LP of 7-8 days. Tried to conceive my second child for 9 months with no luck (managed it first month of trying with DS1, so don't know if my LP was the same back then). Tried natural progesterone cream and got pregnant first month. Now, my consultant says it's just coincidence and informed me that prog cream doesn't work - but I know what I believe! Let me know if you're interested and I can give you more details.
