Hi - this is my first ever post so please be kind -

I am (apologies) blessed with pain free, symptom free periods. I stopped taking the pill 3 months ago and have had two periods since, both like clockwork after 29 days. Both pain free, symptom free.

For the last two days my breasts have been very painfull, feel a bit swollen and are diving me crazy. I took the pill for 15 years; are my breast-pain free periods because of the pill and is the pain now a 'real period' and my body getting back to what it should be or could I be pregnant?

I am very reluctant to test as I don't want to be dissappointed - has anyone else had sore breasts and pmt sysptoms months after coming off the pill?

I am not a pill expert but I will say that I knew when I was about a week pregnant due to ridiculously sore boobs, way sorer than they had ever been from normal periods, and I had been on the pill too.

I did a first response test 6 days before my due date and the result is lying asleep on my chest now! Good luck

I meant period due date btw, have re read and that didn't really make sense!

thank you for your response - I sound like an idiot. - I do have a test in the bathroom but I daren't use it. I'm due on tomorrow and I know most women get sore boobs when due on so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I'm googling 'after stopping the pill' etc now and the pill does mask sore boobs. The next few days will tell - I've never been more than a day late... wish me luck!

Best of luck, OP. FWIW, I twice knew I was pregnant before I tested because my boobs felt nuclear! Really hope it's good news for you; if not, then 3 months is early days and this is a good place to vent the frustration involved in ttc. Let us know how you get on.

MyThumbsHaveGoneWeird · 28/03/2010 16:50

Just to give the other pov...my boobs have been nuclear (thanks prinpo good word!) for 2 weeks before my period last 2 months, and period has still come. Seriously, sore as in having to take paracetamol to sleep and having to hold them when driving over speed bumps. Much worse than usual. I dont know what's going on.

When I came off the pill last year, I had really tender boobs about 5 weeks after finishing the last pill and having the initial breakthrough bleed. I remember it was uncomfortable wearing my bra and it was summer at the time and even wearing a very light t-shirt got uncomfortable. It wasn't a pregnancy symptom as I've been getting my period (with fingers crossed that the cycle length regulates itself in plenty of time before TTC later this year - but that can be for a separate thread....)
