Thought I'd set us up a new home! kettle's on and choc tin open.

This is a lucky start to our new thread: 2 BFPs and a fantastic fertilisation rate from Dueling!

Thanks for the good wishes, rowing.

I would be a leaper, too, I think. The travelling thing sounds really hard to organise.

babymooner, lots of luck for your test tomorrow.

rowingboat · 18/08/2010 13:30

Hi all,
BM how miserable to have a negative the day before, but of course, we all know that doesn't necessarily tell you what is actually happening.
Big fingers crossed for you tomorrow. (Imagines having disproportionately large fingers)

Horton thanks for the input, it all helps!

Lottie I knoow, if you aren't ready mentally it's just not worth it. I remember you were very relaxed for your successful cycle.
I think it's not really knowing when AF is coming and having to rush around [slumps into heap].

Must think about this at some point today. [manic laughter]

Italiangreyhound · 18/08/2010 20:57

Hi all

Been away for a while camping. DD enjoyed it a lot. So did DH and I.

Cerabina all the very, very best of wishes for this attempt. So much hope it works for you. Go Meg and Mog Grin Grin. Did the others make it into the freezer?

Rowing gutted that your treatment did not work but thinking of you for this next attempt, whenever it happens.

Kezia glad you are on the mend/mended now go kick butt (as my five year old would say) you need some action from these docs. Can I ask how old you are, please?

Londonlottie Hope Eve is all recovered now.

MM I'm an NCT mum too, I am sure you will attract/gravitate towards other mums and babes in Oz, you will make new friends, just don't forget us, please.

Horton how is it going? All best for this attempt.

Lissysilver what's new? Hope all is well.

Hello and welcome to babyboomer, WhatTheWhat and Singsong10. I have been away and I am just lurking. I am now about one month into a ten month wait for donor eggs, so nine to go, into single figures as of a week on Sunday! I must get myself in the right frame of mind to accept if it does not happen and also get myself fit and healthy!

In spite of advice about small blue plates (for weight loss) I am going back to Rosemary Conley, I need the exercise and the support!

Anyone else lurking Penguin, Tracybeagle, Isle, Gingerwine and Poppy? Hi.

I have raging toothache, which they think is a dying nerve under a filling! Lovely!

Love and chocolate boobs to all, Biscuit Biscuit

rowingboat · 18/08/2010 21:22

Hi all,

Italian hi sweetie. I can talk to you on here now. Smile
I was feeling a bit left out with all the timing and temping and swiing and all that stuff, so I sloped off. There's only so much of that you can discuss when you aren't actually doing any of it yourself. Grin
Thank you for the sympathy, I still feel sad, you know what that's like. Sad
Camping eh! How lovely, where did you go? Tell us all about it!
We bought a tent a few weeks ago, but the weather has been so crazy up here we haven't been away.

Horton · 18/08/2010 21:29

Hi Italian, camping sounds lovely, where did you go? I keep thinking DD would like camping but I'm a bit of a wuss so haven't tried it yet. I do like my creature comforts.

Sorry to hear about toothache. You need good painkillers and a hot toddy.

I have nothing to report as my period hasn't arrived yet. I'm on the Buserelin protocol this time instead of Cetrotide so I'll need more injections (two a day) but I think it will be okay. I coped all right last time. I currently have £800 worth of drugs in the fridge and am waiting for my period to start so I can start injecting on Day 2. Curious to know if this will work better or worse than last time. In the mean time I'm thinking positive and eating lots of unpasteurised stinky cheese, rare steak, sushi and peanuts, just in case it really does work and I can't eat any for the next nine months!

WhatTheWhat · 19/08/2010 08:42

Hi Italian and thanks for the welcome!

The donor eggs thing is really difficult - the BCRM don't offer donation services. It's quite a scandal, especially if there are people who'd do it in a flash if it were offered at their clinic...

I asked about it after I read a positive article by a local lady about how she had a two-year wait for a donor egg (early menopause) and thought how brave and strong she was, so wanted to help, but couldn't.

Fingers crossed for you.

Welcome back Italian camping fun?? Mmmm... We should give it a go. Think if the weather was nice then it might be fun. But then I live in England and realise that summer = lots of rain.

Went to see the GP on Monday and he has referred us to the FC. So am quite happy about that but as RTD is here its hard to be convinced that I will ever get pregnant again....

Hello newbies I only post on here sporadically but find it helpful.

Stangirl · 19/08/2010 13:11

I am wondering if this is the right thread for me. I have one DD now 6 months conceived by egg donation and am gearing up for another go at conceiving with egg donation. Is this the right place to post my queries and concerns? I have a couple I want to get off my chest. I am 41.

Horton · 19/08/2010 13:30

Hello, Stangirl. I don't have any personal experience of egg donation but I think you are in the right place as a few others here do.

all tests on me and DH have come back saying unexplained infertility

Same here, BB. Frustrating, isn't it? I sometimes used to think 'well, at least if I had an actual problem they could try to fix it!' which is clearly a bit nuts as having a problem is obviously worse than not having a problem. I also have a nearly four year old but she took a long time to conceive so I think even back then there was clearly an issue of some kind.

Dr Nargund told us that with the quality of our embryos, our test results etc and everything having gone about as well as we could possibly expect that we would have had a 30-35% chance of pregnancy last time. So although our chances were higher than average for our age, it's still more likely that it wouldn't have worked than that it would.

In other news, my period started today so I start on the meds tomorrow. I am quite excited.

Stangirl · 19/08/2010 15:19

Thanks Horton. As I said in my first post I am gearing up for egg donation and am keen for it to be as soon as possible both because my age (41) and certain difficulties at work mean that the sooner I conceive the better. The thing is that I had my DD 6months ago by C-section and I have seen in some places that they advise not to try and conceive until 18mths after c-section. Does anyone know why this is?

Cerubina · 19/08/2010 15:33

Hi all

13 days after embryo transfer, and test day is tomorrow. We only got Meg and Mog in the end - the others didn't make it to freezing quality so we have all our eggs in one basket (womb) right now.

VERY anxious. I feel a bit sick and have done for a couple of days but have no idea whether this is the drugs, or anxiety, or a hopeful sign. I am keeping an iron will and have not really thought about testing early, but it is crunch time in about 15 hours from now! Shock

ICSI has really been such a breeze physically (apart from the interlude when I mucked up the sniffing) and I've been so calm for it all, it would be the perfect end to a perfect cycle if we got a BFP. But if we don't, am I going to have a meltdown?!

Babymooner I hope your test today showed up positive. Good luck.

Rowing I liked this quote from you: It's a complete bitch of a disaster of a travesty. That more or less sums up the infertility lark for me. I think I would also grasp the nettle and plunge in with your cycle if you don't feel overwhelmed at the idea. Logistics must be tricky if you have to travel.

Horton that's good news and I wish you luck with the next cycle - you sound calm and relaxed and ready to go, so I hope this is the one for you!

No idea, but would be v interested to hear about it if you find anything out! Where is ARCG? What's its full name?

Keziahhopes · 19/08/2010 19:22

All the best for test tomorrow Cerubina.

Hi Stangirl - no experience of donor eggs here (waiting for treatment for 1st cycle, hopefully for ICSI as prob with both of us, but don't know yet if have eggs as not had that test till get apt at private hospital as switching from nhs!)

Thanks Italian - I am (now) 35, so rather anxious. Been to gp to "chase" as it were, but not helped by secretary "losing" things !!

Does anyone here have any experience of Care, as that is where queuing for (well once paperwork sorted) after nhs nice dr said "try for another 6mths" despite him telling us dh has morphology issues and me not ovulating and our length of ttc etc!

Just popping in to say GOOD LUCK tomorrow Cerubine!!

Italiangreyhound · 19/08/2010 23:35

Greetings to all.

Thinking of you all.

Cerubina All the best for tomorrow. Praying for you sweetie and hoping it will all go well.

Keziahhopes we have been to one of the Care clinics and found them very nice. The staff were helpful, there results seem good, prices seem reasonable. There are several clinics though and they may all be different, different staff etc. Which one are you going to, don't say if you don't want to, or email me on italiangreyhound my imaginary age 39 and at yahoo dot co dot uk if you want to be private!

Does anyone know what these other "treatments" for non sticking embryos are? Are there any controversial things, I seem to recall something of that nature. One friend had treatment with steroids which seemed to work, but she was identified as having problems.

Stangirl Hi, are you getting your donated eggs here in the UK or overseas? I have heard that about waiting if you have a C-Section, presumably the doc can tell you why. I was told to wait but also told but other doctor it did not matter, in the end I did not get pregnant and DD is now 5 and a half! I think it is to do with the scar, making sure that the wound is healed. I am not sure if having had a C-section and getting pregnant quick quickly may mean a problem or not, as I say it seems to be that opinion is divided. Good luck.

Hi WhatTheWhat what is the BCRM? Thanks for your positive comments.

Loujalou it was a fun camp, it was people from our old church and lots of kids, so our DD (who is an 'only' ho w I hate that term but you know what I mean) had lots of people to play with. Rain in the UK is just par for the course isn?t it? August seems to be the wettest month at times!

Horton all best wishes for next cycle. Camp was in Devon, south Devon. They have a proper kitchen and hot showers so it is not roughing it! I must admit I do like my creature comforts too! W share the chores like cleaning the loos and cooking (not all in one go!) on a rota basis so in a week you actually just clean 8 loos once, instead of one loo 8 times, you cook once or twice and wash up once or twice instead of every day! Good idea. Food is basic but nice and tents are big so you can stand up in them. I can't bear not being able to stand up in the tent and I don't like those plastic ones like crisp packets that get so hot first thing in the morning! I am a fussy, fussy camper!

Rowing yes, it feels odd to be talking about it all when it is not happening. I like to be able to pass on hints and tips and find out how people are but it does not feel real to me right now!

Mojangles How goes it?

Londonlottie how are you coping and how are the girls?

I helped to look after two little boys today, plus DD, was ill so hubby had to have the day off work to help me! It was like two of us, three of them and how the blooping heck do people with three kids normally do it!

Love and chocolate boobs to all.

Penguindreams · 20/08/2010 07:56

Just popping in to say good luck today Cerubina!

Cerubina · 20/08/2010 11:22

Thanks to all who wished me luck ? you must have done the trick because it was positive!!!

I tested quite early this morning, absolutely terrified obviously, and then we both looked at the result together. Was touched by my DH?s reaction as he burst into tears!

I?m already injecting heparin every day and now I have to add taking 150mg of aspirin to the mix ? whatever it takes to make sure this one sticks around.

Thanks again guys!
