Day 21 blood test - confused?!

What would you do in this situation?

UCL 27-28 days

I have been using CBFM for 5 months and for the previous 4 months have peaked on CD15/16 however this month it was CD18/19.

I am due to have a day 21 blood test, which would mean I go tomorrow CD21 however, this will mean I only ov'd 2-3 days ago.

Should I go 7dpo or 7 days before expected AF?

I think I have a short luteal phase so knowing my correct progesterone levels will be important and I dont want to mess this up.

Advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

If day 21 is tomorrow then have the test done on that day but a day later than this day will not make any real difference to the end result.

Day 21 is only part of the story; you should also have a day 2 done to check and compare your LH level against your FSH level. These two hormone levels are very important as they kickstart the ovulation process; if these are out of sync (these levels are usually the same) then ovulation will be affected.

I would make sure that all of the apprpriate tests re hormone levels are done, not just the day 21.

Do not focs on being so many days post ov; it is likely that you are not. Ovulation is not an exact science and a woman can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle.

Luteal phase defect is controversial; some gynaes think it is a problem whilst others do not.

i have 25 day cycles and had it done on CD18 as my GP wanted to do it 7 days before AF due, she explained it was called day 21 bloods based on the average cycle length ie day 21 is the average 7 days before AF.

thanks for your replies... will go today, only 2 dpo but UCL is 27-28 and I'm cd21.

I'll ask the nurse when I get there too
