Hi Julie, welcome to MN .

You could be pregnant but just not producing enough of the hormone for the test to pick up (happens loads) or your period could randomly be late (sometimes happens, even if you're mostly regular). Doesn't sound like anything's wrong (insert usual disclaimer about seeing doc if you're worried in any way).

How are you finding ttc? Are you turning into an obsessive, date-watching monster like me and many others? My sympathies about the spots. Perhaps part of your ttc regime could include treating yourself to facials, even if it's just a 99p face mask at home. Won't help you get pregnant but at least you'll have the glow!

What I would do is wait a couple of days (easier said than done, I know) and then, assuming AF hasn't come in the meantime, test again. Best of luck.

(I'm sure you've found it already, but there's a link above to acronyms, which should help to explain the lingo.)

Hi julie26, I'm a newbie too
Seem to be in same situation as you - 3-4 days late, sore boobs and cramps for last week, and skin has broken out and extra tired (am 33 too!)
Am still assuming it is sign of AF as normally have these symptoms but it's usually just a day or two before and not as bad, and I'm normally as regular as clockwork. Think because it's 1st month of ttc I'm looking into it way too much and wonder if worrying might be making me late too.
Not thinking about doing a test unless AF still hasn't appeared by end of week. It would be nice if it happened so quickly but am expecting to be ttc for a good while yet (trying hard not to get hopes up too much yet ).

juliec26 · 15/03/2010 20:02

Hi Prinpo

Thanks for you reply - trying hard not to become obsessed with ttc, but can feel myself turning to the ovulation test kits etc .. although had said I wouldn't - Took 8 months (not that long) of ttc to get preggers with dd and trying to relax more this time, but worry - Have to laugh as its when you find out your pregnant that the worry really begins

Will do another test later in the week if still no signs - Hadnt found the link to acronyms so thanks will check them out so I can find out what every ones means!

How long have you been ttc for?

Good idea with facemask x

HI CM76

ohhh sounds exactly the same as me - I usually get these symptoms, but nowhere near as bad! I have a spare test upstairs and trying hard to not use it as feel i would be upset if it was neg.. just want to come on as then least can try again next month - keep me updated on how you get on - fingers crossed.. like you thing it would be too good to be true for it to happen first time

x

HI Julie and cm76!

I am in the same boat, AF due today and she has not arrived. tested yesterday and BFN and this pm BFN. Usually cycle is 30 days. sure she is on her way but still keeping a little hope in my mind...crazy really as with DS a tested day before due and got twp. good luck girls

Prinpo · 15/03/2010 20:45

We've been trying for an age for dc3. Tried for about 10 months and got pregnant but sadly mc at 11 weeks. Took another 5 months and got pregnant again but had another mc, again at 11 weeks. Had a much-needed break for a couple of months and now ttc again (2 months of trying so far).

I conceived our first two dcs easily so it's felt like a long, drawn-out process this time. I'm practising the virtues of patience and perseverance!

You're right about how the worrying really starts when you get pregnant (and then, of course, continues when the baby is born!). It's a whole series of hurdles, isn't it?

katzen · 15/03/2010 20:53

Hi

I'm new too, we have started ttc this month; and Im in the same boat. Sore boobs, late period, random cramping.

Will wait until weekend to do another test

juliec26 · 16/03/2010 19:42

Oh Prinpo I feel for you - so hard when its like that - like my doctors once said to me you spend much of your life doing everything to not get pregnant and then when you want to it takes ages - took my sister ages with dc no 2, but they are well worth the wait! - got my period today, bit gutted but would of been too good to be true to have worked first time - will make a point of watching 1 born every minute tonight - always a great put of watching people give birth!
Trying to not go down ovulation test kits, but as soon as started using them last time they seemed to do the trick esp as my cycle was 33 days this month, so obviously ovulated later than I thought I did - oh well all a adventure

So tonight I gave in and decided to get a clear blue test while we were out shopping. Did the pee thing when got back (about an hour ago) and it came up positive! Currently in total shock (shakes and all) as totally not expecting. Now paranoid I did it wrong etc and still half expecting period to show due to weird stomach cramps, now waiting til I need to pee again so I can do the other test, eek.

juliec26 · 17/03/2010 09:44

CM76 Wow how exciting!! you do get period cramps for a while had it with my first and kept expecting to come on!! Congratulations!
you'll now be over to the other discussions on pregnancy!

Hi everyone, another newbie here...i was reading your messages - congrats to CM76

Have decided to TTC for the first time ever from the end of the month and feeling a bit daunted by it all ....

Will be 33 in the summer and not too sure about reappearance of spots!

juliec26 · 17/03/2010 20:07

Good luck CM

Cookieswife - I have spots all over my face - I dont weather to laugh or cry..I have come on hoping they calm down soon
At first I felt daunted as have 1 dd from my marriage since divorced have new dp who is 10000x better than exh, but suddenly panicked about having 2 dc 2 dads, but when I got a BFN and saw the that my dp was truly gutted it made me realise just how much I want a baby with him!! although he is not in my goood books today lol xx

Hi everyone, and congratulations to CM76.

I am in my first month of trying but not due for another 9 days. It's nice to meet other people in the same situation.

I am a bit bewildered by quite a few of the acronyms as some of them aren't on the list - the threads with people expecting babies in particular have long lists of letters that scare me! Some of them I can work out but others not.

AF=Auntie Flo, an old slang term for your period.

juliec26 · 17/03/2010 21:32

Hi stiffybyng - I am worked out a few and god knows what the rest are just worked out AF by googling it - looks like we are all pretty new so nice to have some people to share the journey with - I have AF so just waiting for it to go so can get on with trying again month 2!! Good Luck

Hey all, another newbie here!

Congtatulations CM76!

Julie26 - I'm in pretty much the same boat as you - AF was due last Friday, didn't arrive (my cycle is like clockwork) so I did a test adn got a negative, have heard false negs are quite common so decided to wait and do another at the end of this week... AF decided to show up this morning, so feeling pretty disappointed.

This is only our second month of trying, so I'm a bit miffed with myself for being so impatient!

Sounds like I'm not the only one though, which is reassuring!

Hi again - thanks for information aboout the spots juliec26 - mental note to drink loads of water in the vain hope of stopping them!

AF (love that term!) is due tommorrow and is the last one before we start trying - yikes!

Just been reading some of the other topics and posts and I never imagined there was so much support out there - it's fantastic! Good luck everyone! x
