Do you/Did you suffer with painful boobs?

Before I start, this isn't an 'Am I pregnant thread' mores the pity....

As I've got older, I've gotten increasingly painful, swollen boobs the week (or even 2 weeks) before AF is due. At about 2/3 DPO they become tingly and then go up a cup size in just a few days.

Does anyone else suffer with this and if you do, did you still get the same symptoms when you conceived?

With my first DC, I don't think I did get sore boobs before a BFP, but then I was younger and my PMT boobs were probably less severe anyway.

I'm just wondering if I can use the boob pain as an indicator of not wasting another bloody preg test really cause if I can, it will cut my 2ww down to just a few days!

Thanks!

Hi - I have the same as you, the painful part, every cycle (no change in cup size thankfully as that sounds like a pain for bras ).

When TTC no. 1 I used to wonder the same but my experience is for me that it is no different until I know I'm pregnant - so with me my boobs hurt the same at that point in my cycle whether pg or not. Once I start AF they stop hurting, if I am pg they carry on being painful. I have 2 DC and have been pg more times than that so know for sure now that's the way my body works.

Hope that makes sense. (Kind of irritating for me that there is no way of making the 2ww easier!)

Thanks Whizzymummy, horrible isn't it! It is a real pain for bras, and for DH because as soon as they become something worthy of a handful, they are too painful to touch

It does make sense and what I suspected might be the case, especially as mine get sore so soon after ov. I also stop hurting literally the day AF arrives, strange how it can turn on and off like that.

Typical, just goes to show there is no way of outfoxing mother nature when it comes to the 2ww!

Yes it is horrible! Reason I know it so well is in addition to generally sore boobs I also actually have a cyst that I have had checked out ages ago in one boob - you can't feel it in the start of my cycle, by the end you can and it really hurts. Around mid-cycle (or I assume ovulation) it starts hurting and gradually works up to be very painful before AF starts. Literally day 1 of my cycle the pain goes and I can't feel it at all. When I had this looked at years ago (as clearly worried it was something sinister) the specialist told me it's a harmless cyst and quite common. He said that it's the hormones in that stage of my cycle that make it hurt. Frustrating thing is even when I try to convince myself I can "chill out" about the whole TTC thing and ignore the 2ww I have something akin to an alarm clock going off in my body reminding my AF is (or hopefully not) creeping nearer. And yes when I'm not TTC it's just a damn pain.
Good luck with your TTC! Unfortunately I agree you can't outfox mothernature - shame eh...

yep I have sore boobs for about a week before period. tis defo getting worse as I get older too.

weirdly the one time i have been PG i didn't get sore boobs that month at all, in fact they weren't particularly sore at any point of the pregnancy.

I've only been pregnant once though, and the sore boob thing has got worse since then.

Yes I suppose you just change as you get older. I certainly have as I never had sore boobs as a teenager or in my 20s. However not complaining as back then I had horrible period pains whereas they went away in my mid 20s - I'd much prefer sore boobs!
