I bought a packet of test strips but only the cheap ones and I am due on today but thought i'd check as they were so cheap (£1 for 3) there is a very faint line on the first (the pregnancy indicating line) and so I did the other and there was no line (they both had the line to say they had worked.) Has anyone had this before? My boyfriend thinks that it must be negative, I will buy a proper test if I haven't come on by monday but I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone?

Did you use the same Urine for both tests? could it be that you used first morning urine for the first but not the second?

If it were me I would get another test for tomorrow (or like you say on MOnday)and try again, just one of the supermarket ones as they are just as sensitive as more expensive ones.

Good luck

From what I have read before, you can get false negatives but never a false positive.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies, I bought another test and I got a faint but more visible positive and the negative one I actually looked back at and saw a very faint line. We were planning another baby but not until early next year we thought so are a bit surprised as I took an emergency contraceptive pill after we had a contraception failure. Stunned but are both in the mind that we do want this and it must be fate to have two methods fail us. It was around ovulation I took the pill and 34 hours after so I was told the success rate was around 90%. I read that it should not harm the baby? Is this a definate, I will book a doctors apt and go and talk to them. A little nervous about the familys reaction but we may wait a while to give the happy news.

Thanks everyone my boyfriend wasn't convinced still and so he bought a clear blue digital last night-I think he needed to see the word pregnant to believe it properly but he did that last time. He then started mumbling about moving house and working all hours, this morning he woke up and then woke our baby up to say look after mummy and your brother or sister today for me-lucky he's only a baby so can not repeat it to everyone before we do ;)
