Embarrassing question about gravity when TTC!

Hello I am a new mumsnetter, not yet a mum but just started TTC for the first time. I have a niggling question about what to do after having sex when TTC and wondered if anyone could advise...I mean, previously after sex we would have a cuddle then before going off to sleep or whatever I would get up and go to the loo. Now I am wondering if I should be staying lay down in order to help the little sperm on their way. Surely if I jump up and go to the loo and they all trickle out then it kind of defeats the object? (confused)
Can anyone advise?

Enough sperm will get to the cervix from where they won't escape. Legs up in the air post intercourse is something that is completely unnecessary - its a myth that often gets bandied about.

I've been told to lay down for 20 minutes afterwards, but I have stopped bothering putting my legs in the air.... I do sometimes shove a pillow under my bum though!

Having IUI at the moment and in one of my sessions with the Gynae I asked this question and he sort of chortled and said it was an absolute waste of time and made no difference whatsoever but at the end of the day you do what you feel is right for you.

I try and lay down for about 10 mins before I get up and go to the loo. I know it's not meant to make a difference but I did that for DD1 and conceived first time..... having said that on month 3 TTC for number 2 and no luck but it's a bit like having to wear lucky pants for a job interview - I did it once like that so daren't change!!

I go with the lying down for half an hour approach. Did put feet up on wall but that really spoilt the whole post coital thing for DH!
