Side effects from taking supplements/folic acid and is it possible to get enough folic acid from diet alone?

Hi, was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I always feel sick after taking mutivitamins/conception vitamins even on a full stomach as they recommend, folic acid does the same to a lesser extent. I have a fairly good diet and wondered if perhaps i'm overdosing? I am also considering trying to get my dose of folic acid from my diet but need to research how to do this.

I have also been really bloted this month and felt like I had PMT before having cramps and bleeding on CD13 this month, could this be due to the supplements? Haven't used chemical contraception for a long time and this has never happened before. Any advice/experiences would be good to hear.

I cant take multi vitamins, there give me horrible palpatations.

Could the bleed be implantation bleed?

you can drink ovaltine that has your daily recomendation of folic acide i drink that all the time, on the web site it actually is for mums to be or ttc.

Ovaltine!!! What a fab tip ttcbabyno3 thank you

It was a nice thought but can't be implantation as haven't had sex this month, been feeling far too bloted and crabby, OH is all but i'm just going to have a month of being good to myself and not symptom spotting!

Breakfast cereal also has plenty of folic acid (when I was pg all I ate for the 1st few weeks was cornflakes, so no supplements for me).

Folic acid makes me feel sick
Has made me get my hopes up on more than one occasion, thinking it was MS lol.

I had blood tests run nearly 3 years ago because of some eating difficulties (i.e., I wasn't) - folic acid came back absolutely fine - I do eat well though! If you eat utter crap then...
