Ovulation question

Hi,

I have quite long cycles (around 34 days) and not always regular. I'm on day 24 today and have sore boobs. I've heard sore boobs can be a sign of ovulation, would that mean I am ovulating today and if so and my period arrives in 10 days, isn't that a very short luteal phase. I'm intrigued cos had unprotected sexx yesterday so wondering if a pregnancy is possible this month?

10 days is not that short for a luteal phase. Anything shorter than 10 days is considered short though.

Your luteal phase generally remains fixed. And this accounts for variations in cycles that happen sometimes. If you ovulate on day 11 or day 16, there will generally be the same number of days between ovulation and your period, so your cycle length is determined by when you ovulate iyswim ie your period isn't 'late' but you ovulated 'late'.

I know when I ovulate as I have right or left sided pain with lots of ewcm and a headache. I have never had sore boobs when ovulating, although I do get blocked ducts (bfing). Have you tried charting or temping?

Not charting or temping, not really ttcing as such, just seeing what happens. (Have one DS). Just wondered cos of having had unprotected sex and then the sore boobs. Come to think of it, had a very long cycle last month and had sore boobs about 10 days or a week or so before. Might just be pmt, altho I don't usually get sore boobs with pmt.

I had a lot of cm a few days ago (felt wet, almost like I needed a pantyliner) but wouldn't say it was very egg whitey.

I'll just have to wait I suppose.
