Think you usually are yes. But I'm probably wrong and there's not much that is "supposed to" in this game. Wait until someone more knowledgeable than me arrives! I'm being a bit of a symptom-spotting freak show at the moment but am probably just PM!

The highly fertile EWCM (egg white cervical mucus) does dry up within 24 hours of ovulation.

You may continue to experience CM after ovulation but it won't be the fertile kind, assuming you have actually ovulated.

I normally get a little patch of ewcm a couple of days before AF appears

I have always had quite a lot of cm and rarely get a 'dry' day but that is what is 'normal' for me.....everyones different etc....

It's normal to have different CM throughout the whole month, it can be white/sticky/creamy/cloudy throughout but the fertile EWCM typically is only present in the week prior to ovulation.

I've become really interested in cm after trying to conceive for 6 months after a miscarridge. The fertile type is different from other cm in being stretchy. You should be able to pull it between your fingers and it can form a strand of an inch or so. For me it only lasts for about 1 day in a cycle.

I feel really strongly it shouldn't be thought of as yuky. I think it is amazing the body can to that. Seems like a man's idea of a woman.

For anyone who is interested there is a very good free online tutorial on FertilityFriend which catagorises all the types of CM and gives a very clear introduction to the TTC method of temping/charting.

I am a huge believer in it after struggling to TTC DD1, and used it again for TTCing DD2. It works!
