The Morning After Pill - how much can it muck up your cycle?

I took the MAP on 14th Feb (!), after a condom failed. Took it within about 14 hours. I'm now a few days late. Trouble is, my cycle can vary anything between 22 and 28 days, though it is generally 24 days. If it's 22 days, then I'm 4 days late. If it's 24 days, then I'm 2 days late. If it's 28 days, then I'm not late at all. And I don't know how much the MAP can affect your cycle. I've got period-like cramps, but don't know if this is just my mind working overtime!

The condom failed 'outside' IYKWIM, because we were trying to be so careful, so chances are I'm not pregnant. I could simply buy a pregnancy test, but can't remember when this needs to be done. If I could technically still not be late, might it not show an accurate result?

I've trawled through the other threads on this subject but can't find what I need to know. Have instead been appalled at the number of people who seem to have got pregnant after taking the MAP.

Ironically, I've got an appointment on Thursday at the docs to discuss getting the Mirena coil fitted. Agh - can anyone offer me any advice?!

I had an experience as a teenager when I took the MAP and my next period was a 28 days after I took them MAP, as opposed to 28 days after my normal period - I remember because my mum suspected I was pg because she remembered when I had had my last period as I had moaned to her about cramps, so to her it seemed as if I was late. hope that makes sense!

Moules Frites - thanks so much for your reply. Crisis is actually over - period started today, thank God!! But I do appreciate the quick response. I'd actually wondered if the MAP would simply 'reset' my calendar.

Going to sort out something a little more reliable this week!
