no smiley faces - help!

I checked when I was ovulating in November and day 15 of a 28 day cycle - I got a smiley face on an OPK.

Didn't test again in Dec or Jan but decided to go for it this month. Period usually 28-29 days. Tested morning and night on day 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and today - 19 - no smiley faces. Begibnning to panic that I am not ovulating - or I missed it. But how could I have missed it when i tested in the morning and at night?

Went to an acupuncturist who said everything is well energy wise. Have a 3.5 yr old who we conceived first time trying using sticks...

Don't panic!

You could have missed it - you might easily have ovulated earlier than day 14. Or perhaps you are about to ovulate late. Or perhaps you won't ovulate at all this month - it's perfectly normal to have anovulatory cycles on occasion.

Also, don't read too much into them as the surge can be so small it misses it. I use them but don't pay too much attention, if that makes sense. Not sure why I use them in fact. Maybe just to back other signals up.

You are best to test in the afternoon apparently and no smiley face does not mean you haven't ovulated.

Hi crummymummy (love the name!) I'm in the same situation as you. After 6 months of TTC with no luck I used an opk and conceived DD (no.2) first month of testing. So when I was ready to TTC no. 3 I thought I'd used an opk again - worked last time right? Now I'm thinking that was good luck!
This time around have had no luck cycle 1 & 2 even though got a smiley face. Decided after that would take a break for 2 cycles - me trying to be more relaxed Hmm, didn't last long...
Have tested on this cycle but no smiley face so far - tested on days 12/13/14/15/16 and still no smiley face (Been having 29/30 day cycles. ). Also as am seeing no signs of EWCM for several days now I am pretty the test missed it, I ovulated way earlier than expected or I haven't this month.
I'm left slightly bemused and having read various threads on topic think I may stop spending my money. (also maybe I'm lazy or cheap and only testing once a day is bad!)

Please don't panic, I used the ones like HPT where you just get a line.

It says that if you get a faint line, ignore it as it's not a surge, but I took that as my cue to start BDing! The month that we conceived our DD, we didn't have ANY +ive OPKs!!

Just use the other signs and I also found that temping really helped, although better during the second month of doing it where you can see the pattern from the previous month and can judge it that way.
