Hi Im hoping someone on here might be able to give me some advice. Here's the story so far:

Im 24 and have been ttc #2 for 21 months. I saw a gynae consultant in october who prescribed 3 month supply of 50mg of clomid as it appeared i wasnt ovulating.

Have been using opks and just started charting temps. first 2 cycles of clomid didnt get a +ve opk but noticed cycles were shorter than normal (28 days, but are usually 30). third round of clomid got +ve opk on cd13,also dip in temps on same day.temps went back up to slightly higher than normal for rest of cycle. Af appeared on cd26 and needless to say i was devasted.consultant didnt want me back to see him til april.

Anyway had a bright red bleed on cd11,for 1 day. Im now on cd18 and am now having another bright red bleed. these bleeds are not just spotting, but not as heavy as af but still enough so that i have to wear a pad.

I have never had anything like this happen before, and am very worried.

My doc did manage to get me an apt with the consultant for next friday so i dont have to wait too long, but i am still confused about it all and wondered if anyone else has experienced this type of bleeding and what the causes are?

TIA and i apologise for the long post.

i had similar problem where periods were shorter spaced out and then just felt like a big period for the whole of the month which last three months but the end of 2nd month a doctor at hospital gave me some acid tablets and it stopped and sorted self out soon after but i still have checks but also i was also found to cervical cancer which they have recently cured due to getting advice about the bleed . since i have been pregnant and lost it at 9 weeks and now back to having weird bleds

Thank you for your reply

Im sorry that you have been having such a hard time, but happy to hear your cancer was cured.

Can i ask you, was your bleeding because of the cancer? I am starting to get really afraid now

You are wise to get such bleeding investigated further but more often than not the cause is not serious.

It may be that there is a cervical erosion or a uterine polyp; both of these can cause bleeding.

I would try and see the cons on a more regular basis; to be left on clomid without any monitoring for months on end is not good practice.

Has your man been tested to date; he should be checked out as well as you to see if there are any apparant male factor problems.

Would urge you NOT to use OPK's when using clomid as they can give misleading readings. Clomid encourages the ovaries to produce more LH; the kit could well be reading this amount of hormone. OPK's are not without their problems anyway and are really not worth using.

Would also refrain from temp charting at this time as irregular cycles and temping make uneasy bedfellows; you could end up with a chart akin to the Rocky Mountains. What can happen too is that you can have a temp rise in the second half of your cycle when an egg has not been shed so charting is not infallible.

I wish you the best of luck next week.
