Taking folic acid alongside the pill

DH and I are going to start TTC when I finish my packet of pills (in about 2 months). I got pg v. quickly last time so I think I should start taking folic acid now. Daft question but it is ok to take alongside the pill isn't it....?? Am on minipill BTW.

You are absolutely right to do this and taking folic acid won't affect your pill, eggs take 3 months to mature so the ideal is to have been taking folic acid for 3 months before TTC. Sperm prodiction also takes 3 months so DH should start making any lifestyle changes,taking any supplements now too.

I took folic acid whilst on the pill too, not harm in it at all.

Very good idea - folic acid makes a big difference in the first few days after conception, so making sure there is enough in your system ahead of time is ideal. Good luck!

I started taking folic acid a couple of weeks before stopping taking the pill....I was also wondering if that was the right thing to do. Thanks for asking the question I wanted to!
