Hello, I'm brand new too. I'm 34, 35 in April and never thought I was particularly maternal. Until now that is! Am slightly concerned that we have left it too late as over the few days even, hysterical "Declining Fertility Once You're Past 35...Don't Even Bother" articles seem to be everywhere I turn! my husband is pretty much the same age as me, we're both slim and healthy. I've got a BMI of 20 and have a regular 28 day cycle (apart from some occasional spotting 2-3 days before I'm due on). We're both veggies and fairly fit and I've just come off the booze (must be oooh, nearly a week now - never thought I'd miss it so much!). Have also embarked on multi vitamins and minerals and Omega 3. We're not trying exactly yet as I want us to be totally in shape before we start in earnest. Does anyone recommend anything else we could be doing? Or can anyone say to me - "nice one, you'll be pregnant in three months!". Or does anyone want to just say hi? Thanks!

Hi Ariesgirl

Will this be your 1st? if so why not come and us on the first time frolickers thread

there are lots of nice people there to chat to about the TTC minefield

AttilaTheMeerkat · 10/02/2010 14:13

If you continue to spot before your period starts I would get this investigated further to ascertain the cause. It is often not serious but it should be checked out anyway.

Would not use opk's or the like; these can cause stress over time and these methods are not without problems.

Make love too when you both feel like it, not when you think it is ovulation time. Ovulation as well is not an exact science and a woman can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle.

Ariesgirl · 10/02/2010 15:20

I don't want to sound thick but what are opk's? And you've got me all worried now about premenstrual spotting . I've been told it's pretty normal.

And yes this is my first so I'll join you on there - cheers!

ovulation predictors, like dip stick etc that tell you when you are ovulating (alledgedly). I also dont use these... they stress me out!

Ariesgirl · 11/02/2010 17:44

Thanks lucybrad. Think I'll just start with rampant shagging and see how we get on

Ariesgirl I will second fudges suggestion and pimp the First time frolickers thread. I came on here a month ago without a freakin clue and since then I've learnt loads.

Plus TTC can be tough at times and it's nice to be able to talk to people who know what you're going through.

It sounds like you're doing everything right and I don't see why you shouldn't fall pregnant. Let the rampant shagging commence I'd say!!!

ArcticFox · 12/02/2010 03:06

I wouldn't worry about getting "totally in shape". I'd just crack on. Sounds like you have a pretty sound lifestyle- it's not like you've got a crystal meth habit to overcome or anything

I second not bothering with OPK's for now- I never got a positive result in 4 months (was using them pre TTC to work out cycle). Freaked out and declared self infertile and then got BFP first month during the Christmas party season (that month was meant to be the practice run before we gave up alcohol and took up vegetables and clomid for New year- oops).

I'm almost exactly the same age as you. My advice would be just try to have sex every other day between days 8 and 20.

Enjoy!

Cheers Arctic Fox. I've just got a bit of a thing about my age. Took my temps for the last three days and thought must have permanent hypothermia because of our non-heated house. Turns out you're supposed to add 0.5 degrees if you're doing it under the armpit I've turned into a hypochondriac freak show.

Congrats by the way.

Ariesgirl Your comment about the permanent hypothermia made me giggle. It was nice to see you over on the frolickers thread, I read your post there and wondered where I had seen your name and then it hit me; here. I'm such a ditz.
