Just done a clear blue ovulation test and it's positive. Had a natural mc 9 days ago at 6.5w and have just stopped bleeding.
Is this possible or is it the pregnancy hormones?
Hoping someone with a bit more technical knowledge will be able to shed some light on this.
Thanks!

Hi Yogamat,

Sorry about your mc I actually read somewhere that it is possible to substitute those ovulation tests for a pregnancy test if you are testing for pregnancy (if that makes sense) - the hormone the ov test is looking for is similar to the hormone found in pregnancy. So, it could be that it is picking up residual pregnancy hormones - but, as your cycle could be a bit funny, it could be detecting ovulation, so it's a bit unknown as far as I can tell!

Someone told me that if you are trying to get pregnant straight after miscarriage, you may as well just keep SWI as your cycle will be all over the place and you may not spot when you ovulate (as even the test kits can get it wrong). If that helps?

Sorry, that was all a bit too much verbal. Hope you are doing ok,

xxxxx

I am 9 days after mc and am still showing +ve pg test - I think this can make an opk inaccurate - have you done a pg test?

Otoh there seem to be plenty of people on here who have got pg very soon after mc!

thanks guys. I think it is just my hormones going mental.
Goodluckbear - what does SWI mean? I am doing OK thanks - just want to be positive and think about trying again. Wish my body felt the same!

I think it could still be pg hormones - I was told by doctor after my recent miscarriage at 5+1 that it could take up to 2 weeks for pg test to show negative, even with a MC that early.

That said, I'm fairly sure that I Ov'd 14/15 days after my MC (and the few cycles before I wasn't OV'ing until CD18 ish, so if I took day 1 of MC as CD 1, I Ov'd pretty early for me), so anything is possible.

Sorry to hear about your MC.
