Not an expert, but ICSI is a form of IVF in which an individial sperm is selected and injected directly into the egg. In "normal" IVF the eggs and sperm are just put in a dish together (with Barry White playing in the background, I presume) and left to it.

It's used where there is a male factor in the infertility.

I've often found useful information onthis website.

Thank you for that MrsHappy! I have the doctors this morning so I am hoping he can provide me with some more information!

Anyone else with any advice?

Hi NewMember

Hope the doctor was helpful.

I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my first as we also had to have ICSI - my husband has a low sperm count, so we were told it was our best option. It's absolutely the same as standard IVF, except that they inject individual sperm into each egg. Our clinic recommended it for any couple that had any sperm "issues" since it really cuts down the risk of having a good harvest of eggs but not having any fertilise because of the sperm...and if you go through all the injecting of stimulating egg production then that would be just heartbreaking!

ICSI worked for us first time, so I'm a fan . I found the assisted conception thread on here an utter lifesaver as there are plenty of experienced and supportive women who know the lingo etc. I also found FertilityFriends helpful (though only ever lurked).

Good luck
