Osteopathy and fertility

I hurt my shoulder recently so saw the osteopath this morning - shoulder much better now. I told her we were having trouble conceiving and she felt my mid back and said it felt blocked and she did stuff to it for about five minutes. I'm on my period and was having cramps and the cramps stopped immediately she did it (even though cramps are in lower back, she was concentrating on higher up back) even though they usually last a whole day.

Anyway I am going back for one more session next week and she is going to check shoulder and work on fertility again.

Is this all quackery do you think or has anyone else heard of link between osteopathy and fertility? I've seen all the acupuncture threads but can;t find anythign on osteopaths.

I am of the "anything that helps" school of thought but believe that there is alot of power in alternative therapies.

I'm sure your osteopath will be able to share some of the research with you as they frequently attend seminars / training on different treatments. Some are also quite keen to talk you through what they are doing.

I found an interesting study (long but I read the summaries!)
www.osteopathicresearch.com/paper_pdf/Kirchmayr.pdfhere and there are other articles about blood flow, tension in the pelvis etc.

Good Luck.
