What day should I start trying?

Always had a 28 day cycle and got pregnant on day 13 with DD and again on day 13 with Angel Philippa (05.04.05).Had on/off post pregnancy bleed after Philippa and periods eventually started again on 01.06.05. Had a go on day 13 (wont do it other days,as it worked before like this,superstitious nonsense i know) and period arrived day 31.So seems cycle is now longer and this month gonna do it day 13,15,17 and 19.Think that will be ok??

My advice hon is to use www.fertilityfriend.com its free and just by putting in your temp and the concistancy of your CM (cervical mucus) sorry i know its kina gross but just by doing this it can tell you when your ovulating so you will know - good luck

I am a bit ignorant about temp and things i will have a look at the website

buy the ovulation test kits, then you know before hand if it is the right time. worked first time for us after months of trying.

ok sorry! i know it seem silly as its ment to be a natural thing but it does guage things quite well for you.

Whats the 'best' ovulation kit to buy? and how much??

we just got the cheapest pack of sticks, seven sticks,think it was about £7ish. we only used 2 the first one was negative so i waited till the next day and that was positive so poor DH was trapped in the bedroom for the weekend. it worked!!

Ovulation is 14 days before the end of your cycle
So 14 days before 31 is 17. This assumes your cycle has changed to be 31 days each time though.
Often sounds like the best bet. Have fun

Ovulation isn't always 14 days before your period - that's an average. I'm pg and had 50-day cycles. But am only 2 days off dates after my scan today - which is impossible if I ovulated 14 days before my period was due.

I just went to see a fertility expert, and she told me that the ovulation kits can be unreliable - they can tell you too late when you might be ovulating (although obviously they work for some people). Her advice was to bd as much as possible (at least every other day)when you have any cervical mucus at all = so that might be over a period of 2 weeks plus.
The "best" time is when the mucus is clear and stretchy -
but you should bd before that too - whenever you have any mucus at all - and for 2 days after it becomes clear/stretchy.
She said that mucus was the best indicator, and to stop thinking in terms of "days" - if you know what I mean?

Never took notice of mucus until i read a book last month. Saw the clear stretchy stuff at 9 days and thought mmmm cant be right, too early,waited tll day 13 to have sex and started p day 31.

on day 9 now (must check downstairs) but just going to buy a pile of ov kits and start testing today!!
