How long should the stretchy mucus hang around for? Mine did for a day and a half. Also, I felt very physically "ready" for sex on the main one day of producing this stretchy mucus, so does the mucus happen before or after ovulation? Sorry if these questions repeat other threads. I went through five pages of threads and did not find the same questions.

IIRC having sex on stretchy mucus day is optimum. It worked for me with conceiving DC1. I'm pretty sure ovulation has already occurred at this point, and the egg will stick around for a couple more days while ths sperm chase around trying to find it.

i have researched on line this morning. it seems eggs are only alive for 24hr, sperm 2hrs if not in correct mucus. if in correct mucus then two days. You have given me more hope of conceiving as i had sex "on a stretchy mucus day"

Just read that the stretchy mucus day occurs just before ovulation. women in 20s can have up to five days, women in 30s up to two days, and i am in my 40s..... Then after it occurs the change in mucus to white pasty is because the ovaries have released egg supposedly and are producing progesterone which triggers next phase of cycle and can plug cervix. anyway i am getting the hang of it and will let you know in 14 days? cheers
