Please tell me all about egg donation

Told today that my only option for ttc is egg donation. I'm almost 47, with an AMH reading of 0.7. DH is 35 and firing on all cylinders. We have a DD aged 2.1 who was conceived entirely naturally (and unexpectedly).

The consultant has told us to go away and think about it and has said to expect a success rate of 40-50% but at a cost of £6k-£8K. He made it all sound very simple, just match you up with someone similar and away you go.

I have doubts about it being anywhere near that simple as I was sure that egg donors were in short supply. I also have no idea about where it could be done or how long waiting lists would be.

I also have a huge issue with whether it is right to contemplate it given that I already have a DD and so many people are longing to have a child fullstop. I'm not sure I could get over feeling guilty about potentially depriving someone else of the opportunity of becoming a parent in order to give my child a sibling. The consultant tells me I shouldn't feel like that but if eggs are in short supply

All information and experiences gratefully received.

The HFEA in the UK governs all aspects of such treatments.

You may want to read this page of theirs to start with as it is informative:-
