What does my sister need to do to get IVF privately?

I was referred to IVF Wales by my GP under the NHS. Does my sister have to be referred also even if she is going to go private?

Can she ask to be refered to a particular clinic?

Thank you in advance

Your sister will still need to be referred by her GP.

I'd suggest that she chooses the clinic she wants to use first (maybe pays a visit to an open day etc.), then they will be able to advise her on procedure. In my case I just had to ask my GP to send a letter to the main doctor at my chosen clinic.

All surprisingly simple.

Depends on the clinic, your sister will need to call her preferred clinic and ask.

I've self-referred twice and bypassed my GP entirely both times, so it really is up to the clinic in question. The HFEA website has this information IIRC

hmm not sure
can recommend a clinic though...
my sister had her last round of iVF here in norway
my sister thought they were brilliant even though she did not manage to keep her baby
her experiences of ivf in this country were very very negative, she described as been treated like cattle. in norway she had a much more postive and humane experience
sadly after just one try in norway, she and her husband hadn't the strength to try again
