Anyone had retained tissue after ERPC?

Hi

I had an ERPC 7 weeks ago after I was diagnosed with a MMC - baby stopped growing at 5-6 weeks. ERPC at 11 weeks. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks for periods to return. My periods have always been like clockwork.

I have ovulated twice since the ERPC. Exactly 2 weeks after 1st ov, I had strange pains that lasted throughout the night and was sure I would start my period but no blood. Exactly 2 weeks after that, I ovd again.

I am still having pain in my boobs and down my thighs. I have had no spotting or bleeding at all since the ERPC to suggest there was any tissue. I am worried there is blockage or adhesion as I am pretty sure my body was trying to have a period. I am going to get scanned tomorrow.

Please could someone who experinced retained tissue tell me how long it took for you discover?

Many thanks.

Hi, sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I had erpc after 12 week scan picked up that the embryo hadn't grown beyond 5 weeks. I ended up having to have a second erpc a month later as there was still quite a bit retained...

Signs for me were continued bleeding (tho not heavy), feeling really 'under the weather' and night sweats. I was advised by epu to do a pg test and there was a faint line. Based on this they got me back in,scanned me,and found erpc was incomplete. Had 2nd erpc soon after as my body didn't seem keen on natural route...also industrial strength anti-bs to sort any infection.

Don't know if that is any help, but didn't want to leave you unanswered. Good luck with the scan. As far as periods go it could simply be that the mmc has knocked you for six,and they may take a while to settle...

Hi ginhag
Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear that you sorted it out. I did PG tests and they were negative but they were 25mu ones and so would not have picked up anything under that.

I too have had bouts of not feeling well - sweats, weakness. Put it down to stress. I have read many posts on retained tissue and I think most people say that, like you, they continue to bleed.

I had my tissues sent off for testing and the report said no sac was found in what was removed and so maybe it is still there.

Best of luck with TTC.

Let me know how you get on.it's horrible not knowing...

I can't ttc at the mo...but that's another story! Nothing to do with the mmc/erpc stuff.

Hope you are able to get back on track soon.
