Clearblue digital ovulation predictor question

This is my first time using these. I used the first one today, am on CD 14 of a normally 31 day cycle and I got a ! I'm totally shocked! FF reckoned I'd OV on around CD17 before I added today's info. Maybe I do OV earlier in my cycle which would give me a luteal phase of 16 days instead of the average 14 days, what do you all think ? Anyone else used them, what was your experience ?

They say 14 days but everyone's cycle is different - a 16 day luteal phase is nothing out of the ordinary and is in fact really good for conception as it gives any embryo longer to burrow in before hormone levels drop down.

I think it is worth using the predictor for a few cycles (unless of course you get pregnant straight away) to see if you ovulate on or around the same day every month.

I've only used the clearblue fertility monitor rather than the ovulation predictor.

Thanks for the reply bearcrumble, will def use the OPK's for a few cycles to get the jist of what is going on.

Hi, from what I understand you don't actually ovulate until about 12 - 48 hours after you get the first surge so you could get the first positive on Day 14 but you might not actually ovulate until Day 16, maybe even later so i think it does sound about right. Also the clearblue ones are the most sensitive opks I think so they will pick up the LH surge quicker/earlier then other brands, so you could be getting the positive just at the start of the LH surge.

I usually use the CBFM but last cycle I used both (i am slightly obsessed) and I got the smiley face on the CB digital a day earlier then I got peak on the CBFM and FF correlated with what the CB digital said.

I've had a bit of frustrating month myself, according to FF I ovulated on Day 16 but I had not had any peaks on my CBFM but I assumed that FF was right as I had a small temp shift. I got a peak on CBFM about 12 days later and think I now ovulated about 2 days ago (with a big thermal shift) instead of Day 16 and only just beginning my 2WW.
