Negative test turns to positive test - help!

Hi MN-ers,

I did a clearblue test this morning and it was negative although I did see the faintest shadow of a positive (I mean I want to be preggers so could easily have been seeng what I wanted to see). Anyway - picked it out of the bin to look at it again a few hours later and it has turned to positive (vry clearly). What's that all about? Should I completely disregard it? I am after all just about to embark on IVF as I'm not supposed to be able to conceive naturally.

Never trust a result after 10 mins. All sorts of funny things can happen.

However, if you think you might have seen a faint positive before 10 mins was up, test again tomorrow morning.

Good luck!

I know a few ladies on here that have fished test sticks out of the the bin (me included)!! Anyway one of those ladies is now 30 weeks along and I'm 24 weeks along!!

Do another test in the morning

You follow the instructions. Any line that appears outside of the test time has to be disregarded.

Perhaps test again tomorrow if you think there's a chance there was a line in the alloted time. And don't fish them out of the bin afterwards!

CB do give false pos and within the time limit, with a blue colour to it...i had it happen to me.

Try in the morn with a different brand.

I have had what looked like positives with tests after the 10 minute time and they were actually negatives so disregard and test again tomorrow with a different brand of test.

Good luck.

Thanks all - I would like to believe that I'm preggers but will wait until tomorrow for another go if AF is still not here.

Yeah after 10 mins those seemingly positive lines are caused by the evaporation: "evap lines". Can't be trusted, although you may just have tested early so do another test in the morning.

decafgirl · 16/12/2009 15:42

Any news?

Amberc · 16/12/2009 20:05

Yes Decaf - got AF today (6/7 days late though). Ho hum!
