Genetic counselling

Hi

Long story short: I m 39 and had 3 MCs in the last year .Me and DH had all initial tests all negative, attended re-current miscarriage clininc and my cytogenetic report from my blood tests shows some chromosonal paracentric inversion..

We have been referred to a genetic counseller.....

Im a nurse soo understand the basics the dr wasn t very good as she didn t understand much of it her self

HELP anyone else been through this?

I'm at work, so cna't talk much, but essentially what's going wrong is that your eggs have the wrong number of chromosomes.

The paracentric inversion means that a bit of one of your chormosomes is the wrong way up, so when the chromosomes pair up redy to divide to form an egg this pair don't line up properly, so some of your eggs with have 2 lots of this chromosome and some will have none.

Sorry for being a bit terse, I expect someone will be along in a minute who can talk though it more with you.

I imagine the cousellor will offer you IVF-type options, in order to screen eggs or embryos for having the right combination of chromosomes before implanting.
