Puzzled by my Mucus???

Sorry ladies, am a regular but have name changed to save my .

Just finished reading Toni Weschlers 'Taking charge' book and have been charting for the last 3 cycles. Whilst my charts appear almost textbook, with a 28 day cycle, pos OPK day 14, temp shift day 16 I've got no idea what my CM is up to.

I must just start by saying that I only observe and haven't plucked up the courage to insert hand up fanjo on a daily basis but, I rarely notice any CM, eg white or otherwise before ovulation however after my temp shift I seem to become much more 'lubricated' (apologies for TMI). I get a 'bubbly' feeling up in my fanjo and do observe a small amount of sticky non egg white when wiping.

Does anyone have any idea why? According to Toni, after ov I should be feeling dry with perhaps a little bit of CM just before AF?

After looking at the photos in the book of women showing off their copious amounts of EWM, I'm starting to feel a little and although would not want the job of having to deal with these ladies underwear

Do you think this could indicate a problem?

why dont you try some preseed? That way you wont have to worry?

WheresMyMucus · 22/11/2009 17:36

Thanks lucybrad, I already have been (although the pre conceive stuff rather than the preseed).

Was just a bit why i seem to get mine after ov as opposed to before. I'm sure I'm actually producing it after (hence the bubbly feeling) rather than just noticing what has worked its way down IFSWIM?

I never really had tons after my mid 30s (used to have buckets when I was in my 20s) but it didn't stop me conceiving ds. I got a bit obssessed trying to conceive dc2, so drank about a litre of fresh grapefruit juice every day and it did seem to make a difference.

BTW, if you're actively ttc, you're not confusing any remaining semen with ewcm are you?

Are you positive about ov timing? How long after ov are you still getting ewcm? I think you do continue to produce it for about 24 hours afterwards as you can conceive for about 12-24 hours after ov.

Thanks HeadFairy you may well have a very good point! Perhaps it could be the left overs from the previous few days BD activity? (what a lovely thought!!)

I'm pretty sure about the ov, well as much as anyone can be because its usually after the temp shift.

Really pleased to hear it didn't stop you conveiving, I'm mid 30's too and used to get a fair amount but no such luck these days.

I have tried grapefruit juice but to be honest only a glass a day for a few days before ov. I'll up this to a litre if I can cope with it. When you say fresh, I take it the long life carton stuff isn't as good?

I think the declining ewcm is a sign of falling (but not yet disappeared!!!) fertility. Hence it's possible to get pg 5 days after unprotected sex when you're young, but much less likely when you're older because you have less of the lovely ewcm needed to keep the sperm alive in that time...

Anyway, I digress. Yes, I started drinking the grapefruit juice from cd1, and always the fresh stuff, not from concentrate, not long life, not cordial. Cost a blimming fortune and not always the easiest thing to find, so I used to bulk buy whenever I did find it. You can always of course juice your own. But when I did stick to it, I definitely noticed more ewcm around ov time (I wasn't temping so had to guess at ov time but it was usually cd14-15)

the grapefruit juice thing becomes strangely pleasant after a while, you'll be amazed at how quickly you're no longer winceing when you knock it back!!!
