Positive OPK after ovulation??

I'm trying to work out whether I've ovulated, and thought the MN ladies would be able to help me. Basically, I thought I'd O'd last night (positive OPK test in the morning and at lunchtime, loads of EWCM and ovulation pain yesterday evening). No temp rise this morning, but I thought maybe it just hadn't kicked in yet. But when I did an OPK test at lunchtime today, it's still positive. Does this mean I haven't O'd yet? Or is it possible to have a residual positive OPK test even after ovulation?

Hi. I have been reading about OPK and results recently as I have had a very strange few weeks. I think that basically, it isn't too unusual to have a couple of positive results and the pain can preceed ovulation. I also read that you are better to trust temp rise and ewcm as indicators. As far as my opk results, never had a positive then last 4 days all positive and line darkening! I did some research and basically these also pick up HCG as they are not sophisticated enough to distinguish between the LH and HCG molecule. BFP on pregnancy test even though according to opk, I don't ovulate! good luck.x

OPKs measure the lutenising hormone which comes as a surge, it then tails off. YOu only need to do a test until you get a positive. If you keep doing one you will keep getting a positive until the surge tails off. So yes you can have residual hormone leading to a positive.

The pain of ovulation isn't a good sign as you can get it before or after ovulation. Trust your temperatures - they are the best measure.

I got loads of ewcm, then pain, then a pos opk and finally a temp rise on different days so it's a bit of a 'process'.

Good luck.

Thanks fifitot. Got my temp rise this morning, so at least I know I've OV'd, though I'm still not quite sure when it happened...
