Hi all

For thoes of you who've experience pregnancies before, did you "know" or feel you were pregnant before a positive test result? Or did it feel much like any other month when you were TTC until your period was late/ you took a test?

Thanks!

First PG, blissfully unaware, untill I felt sick drinking wine and wonder why I didn't seem to have a period for a very long time.... happiest day in my life was to see those 2 pink lines a few days later
Second one, the minute I climaxed, I thought "oups that is bad timing!" and felt sick and PG less than week after, had to wait 3 weeks to have the test... but I knew
But my cousin didn't realised she was pg before 4 months... I guess everybody is different, and every PG is different as well.

NorkyButNice · 11/11/2009 09:06

First PG - we were actively TTC but I didn't have any symptoms at all until POAS the day my period was due.

This PG - again we were TTC, but this time I had loads of symptoms - constant need to wee, sore boobs, backache - this was within days of ovulation. Sure enough, positive test 2 days before period due.

katylou25 · 11/11/2009 09:27

DS1 - tested on day period was due but didn't know...

ds2 - in denial I think ds1 was 9 months was a happy accident - Dh said for God's sake how many times do you have to throw up before you do a test!!

PG3 - now 13 weeks - knew and tested a week before my period was due - faint +ve - just felt pregnant

ImSoNotTelling · 11/11/2009 09:43

DD2 - nope no idea - we were having a break from TTC, I realised my period was about 4 days late, BFP as soon as weed on the stick.

chandellina · 11/11/2009 10:27

1st time - had a terrible headache and felt woozy, was a couple of days after my period was due but hadn't really thought about it. Went home, took a test and was positive. (sadly miscarried at 8 weeks)
2nd time - no symptoms, took a test day was due, positive. (another miscarriage at 10 weeks.)
3rd time - had bad cramps two days before period was due and felt very ill out jogging day before period was due, took a test day of af due and was positive. (two years after the miscarriages and lots of IVF, etc. - had beautiful son 9 months later ...)

claricebeansmum · 11/11/2009 10:29

1st time - thought I had a cold but it wasn't! Felt tired, achy and run down
2nd time - took longer to feel pregnant

overthemill · 11/11/2009 10:32

yes with each of my three pregnancies i 'knew' and two times it was miraculous that i got pg!!!! i hadnt been 'trying' with any of them

thedollshouse · 11/11/2009 10:32

No I couldn't with either pregnancy.

The problem is the symptoms of early pregnancy are almost identical to the symptoms that you have when your period is due so for most people it is almost impossible to tell.

Iloveautumn · 11/11/2009 11:18

Yes, I always know I'm pregnant before I do the test (have been pg 5 times...)

Symptoms:
tingly/sore boobs
strechy/achy uterus

To me def feels different to pmt symptoms.

scottishbird23 · 11/11/2009 11:31

I had usual period pains and was expected period.....took test when I was 3 days late and was delighted when it was positive. Continued to have period pain type of thing for quite a few weeks after.
Now trying to conceive number 2 and have had no luck for a year.....Period due tomorrow and have all usual symptoms of period pain and sore boobs - could be either period of preggo!! Hope its the latter ;-)
x

beatiebow · 11/11/2009 11:50

Didn't know until period was a wee bit early and then tapered off and turned out to be implantation bleed. Had already taken test (neg) but took another after this and it was positive. Was nervous for a while as 'going off tea' didn't happen for a while after that and morning sickness didn't kick off like the first time, but all was fine.

LilianGish · 11/11/2009 11:55

First pregnancy no idea - however on reflection symptons were there I just didn't recognise them iyswim. Next two - knowing what it felt like to be pregnant - I recognised the symptoms straight away (within days), sore boobs, tire out, feeling sick.

birdofthenorth · 11/11/2009 14:10

Thanks for this everyone, really helpful.

Scottishbird -me too, my period's also due tomorrow, but I'm expecting it to arrive as normal, don't think I have any pregnancy symptoms. Fingers crossed for next month! Good luck to you.

Good luck

lucybrad · 11/11/2009 16:25

i didnt have any symptoms at all and i was pg with twins, had dull crammping a week after missed period.

stuffedmk · 12/11/2009 12:00

I assumed I was in for the worst period in the world lol....Had terrible cramps (was doubled over, and they are normally fairly bad)a couple of days before AF was due. Apart from that nothing, and I was definately on the lookout

ElusiveMoose · 12/11/2009 13:34

Not only did I not know before I tested, I didn't have any symtoms AT ALL until I first started showing (apart from missed periods, obviously). When I went for my 12 week scan I was convinced they'd tell me something terrible had happened to the baby and I wasn't pregnant after all. Happily, all was well.

rowingboat · 12/11/2009 13:42

No idea wasn't TTC, just careless, only symptom was nausea at 7 or 8 weeks. Didn't test until I was 10 weeks after realising I hadn't had AF for a while.

hi there,

1st time my only clue was really bad cramps when AF was due but they just disappeared without any sign of AF

2nd time was a huge shock when dc#1 was only 4mths & i was so stressed with a colic baby that i didnt suspect anything til late AF (infact its a miracle #2 was concieved at all!)

3rd time felt quesy & sore boobs but again not until after AF was late..

this time however i just knew, from 7dpo i felt quesy late everynite & i usually always get sore boobs straight from ovulation until AF arrives but this time they didnt get sore until 10dpo and were a totally different type of sore that i recognised as pg sore, and shur enuf i got BFP at 11dpo

hiya ladies! ~wave~

I had a mc and ERPC back in June, only realised I was preggers when the morning sickness kicked in. urgh. That was when I tested. But looking back I had terrible insomnia, peeing in the night, and boobs went "hard" (TMI sorry!!lol!)for weeks before! Oh and cigarettes were grossing me out!

I kinda think I might be up the duff again now but I have to wait another week before testing...can't stop symptom spotting tho!! I couldn't sleep last night, really hot in bed, mild crampy pains in my abdomen, and on Day 21 I had wierd brown spotting (implantation??) which has now finished 2 days later. Maybe I'm just going stir crazy though

I had a laporoscopy back in September for a ruptured ovarian cyst too (yes my body is a proper mess!) but the man is super fertile so I kinda think anything's possible at the moment!

Any opinions on my current symptoms as I am SOOO impatient!!

bolebo · 13/11/2009 15:23

yep - had a sip of beer and wanted to vomit, super sharp senses...loud noises were driving me nuts!
