TTC but Bf and no AF

My ds is two and showing no sign of wanting to give up feedng. He feeds about three times a day, but not at night. Dh and I want to ttc but I have had no period yet.

Will I need to give up? I really don't want to make him stop but don't want to wait too much longe for baby no 2.

Do you have any signs of fertility - I have had two children (and three pregnancies (miscarried one) with no periods. In fact it's only recently now DD is 3 and DS is 15 months my periods have returned.

Look out for cervical mucous and just have sex often. You are probably ovulating.

I researched this a lot when I was ttc. You can only ovulate once before a period because you have a period if an egg is not fertilised - whomovedmychoc I think you were just incredibly lucky and very fertile to catch first egg both times... you can also have some practice cycles where you start producing mucus but don't actually ovulate.

Stefka there's some useful stuff on kellymom about all this. Most women will get periods back while breastfeeding and will have done by now. But some women don't until bf stops completely. The night feeds are meant to be the most important to give up to get periods back but also irreg gaps between feeds.

So, you'll probably ovulate again while bfing but no one would be able to tell you for sure and you might not so you'll have to make a decision and weigh up ttc with bfing your ds. Have you got time on your side agewise?

I am getting CM. I have other issues to consider - I have had problems with disordered eating and last year after having DS had a bit of a relapse and was not eating properly. I worry this will have caused my periods to not come back when they might have.

I feel really distressed at the thought of making DS stop - he loves it. He won't give up on his own though.

I'm so sorry chocolate I didn't mean it like that and I'm sorry about your mc. I was posting after a night in which my children only allowed me two hours sleep and I should have been more sensitive. What I meant was the odds of conceiving like that are low and you must be very fertile.

Stefka it might be worth talking to your GP and/or one of the breastfeeding helplines. They may be able to help generally and also around your specific issues.

It's all right teapot - I too have been up for ahh I forget many nights with a teething urchin. So am oversensitive.
