TTC after removing coil

I've had the mirena coil removed, I was told before it was put in that it should be ok to start trying as soon as it was out. So we will see, it pushed my regular period cycle back by only two days, despite having no periods while the coil was fitted.

Before the coil my periods have been regular as clockwork since they started 14 years ago. So I'm praying they don't choose now to start messing me around.

Anyone else had the coil removed? What were/are your experiences?

Hi

I had mirena removed 22nd september and then had af 13th october. So really this is my first proper month and Im on day 27 waiting. Feel reaaaaaaaallly prementrual . Before I think i was between 28 and 30 days cycle. I do think it messes around with you a bit. Although my sister in law had hers removed, had one af and then got pg straight away. Lucky sod

I had mine taken out last October. My periods returned within a couple of weeks. They were much heavier, but shorter than pre-coil (but they were massively messed up after ds was born anyway and I had it fitted when he was 6 weeks old).

We started trying in December, just so I knew where I was with my cycle (30 days).

Got pregnanct in February and this little one is due this week

I had a regular coil, not the Mirena. My periods seem fine now. I've had two periods now and all seems fine. Lighter than they were on the coil, more like my old ones.

My period returned two days after having the coil removed. (I had my coil taken out on the day my period was due) So fingers crossed everything will be good

I had a mirena removed around 6 weeks ago. I've had one period and now am on the 2WW. I last concieved 7 months after it was removed (DS is now 5) and from temping it took those 7 months to OV. I caught 1st month I OVd.

Hoping it won't take so long this time.

lucybrad · 10/11/2009 16:26

god, i hope it doesnt take me 7 months to OV.

Kaloki · 10/11/2009 20:58

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you (and me for that matter)

had my mirena out in June. Been ttc no3 since then but nothing. Slightly bemused as first 3 pregnancies (one mc) happened just by looking at each other but we continue with our quest....

My body appears to have gone nuts since having the coil removed. Wonder if anyone else has experienced the same?

My periods have been regular as clockwork since they started, always a 28 day cycle, with ovulation pains 12-14 days in. And that carried on while I had the coil in.

Then when the coil was removed I had a period two days later (as expected), then another 19 days later I had another period (much heavier than usual). Five days after the last period I started having really bad stomach cramps, which have lasted (on and off) for the last 3 days. Is this GP worthy? Or just my body adjusting to the lack of coil?

Forgot to say, no bleeding during coil time, but all normal period symptoms, always on time.

..and bleeding again. 8 days after last time. Wtf?

Kaloki, could it be an ovulation bleed? If it's really light that may be it.

Update on me. I mentioned that I was on the 2WW - well I'm now 6 weeks pregnant

So I obviously ovulated (well, obviously!) the first month after the first period - and I got clear ov signs. We SWI every day from about day 11 to 2 days after I ovd (nearly wore us both out!) but it worked

Good luck everyone.

That's excellent news!! So happy for you

Maybe, never had an ovulation bleed before. Should be going to the doctors later. So we'll see what they say.
