Starting new thread with massive congratulations to Nanoo I reckon the old man can wait till he gets home! But of course - it's up to you really xxx

Thanks so much Bluebell and Isle, really appreciate your thoughts. It was all alright. Actually it was more than alright - it was just incredible to see. LondonLottie you were right - turns out my GP was trying to use the doppler too early. God it scared me - having got so far, to fail at that hurdle would have been crushing. I know there's still a long way to go but I feel that 12 week scan is a biggie. I'd love to stay on the thread still - AC has been part of my life for an entire decade - and I really want to know how you guys get on. I'm sure we're due for a BFP soon.

Isle I was really interested in your decision to give FET another go (and great you can start so early ). But why did your consultant want a fresh IVF cycle if you still have good qual frosties?

How are the girls now they're home LL?! Hope there's still a little time for MN!! Must be v exciting and overwhelming all at the same time.

Amberc · 23/12/2009 10:17

Nanoo - I'm really pleased for you hun!

DollyGumbo · 23/12/2009 12:13

Great news Nanoo!
Must have been a lovely sight after such a long wait - and you should definitely hang around here - I'm sure us newbies to AC are going to need your advice x

luckywebby · 23/12/2009 14:29

Hi everyone

Hope you don't mind me joining your thread. A bit of background to me.
DH had vasectomy reversal in October just had results of SA and nothing there. Totally devastated.
Going to doctor to find out what is any (is the way forward for us)
I guess IVF or IVF with ICSI.
Feel so crap at the moment.
Can anyone give me any advise on either of the above.
x

poppy75 · 23/12/2009 17:46

Hi lucky I know how you are feeling, it all seems so unfair at times. I am due to see consultant in Jan to be referred for IVF so not sure which would be best. Although I have two friends who had success with IVF the first had 3 with ICSI and the second had twins with just IVF. I think you'll have to ask them with your results which will give you the best chance of things working Hope you are feeling better, I have been ttc for nearly 4 years now and you go through a complete rollercoaster, at least here at MN we are all going through similar things.

Amberc I think DH is just fed up with ttc and the stress it has put on us and how upset I get when everything keeps on failing. I am hopefully going to try and convince him in the next few weeks as I can have one cycle funded (I think) if we do it in the next year so it is definately worth doing! Although to be honest I am quite weary of it all as well!

londonlottie congratulations it is good having rays of light on the thread, I completely know what you mean about the timed sex, I can't remember what it was like to just do it without thinking about what part of the cycle I was at (even if it is in my head). God if I ever have kids and have the time or energy it will be great to go back to that!

gingerwine · 23/12/2009 22:53

Hello everyone and a big welcome to newcomers.

Lottie Hope you are getting into the swing of the completely random timetable of newborn babies! I remember getting home with DS1 and putting him down in his carseat and just looking at him and thinking 'what do we do now?' What a shame I didn't have MN then. I would have had so many questions. Have a lovely family christmas.

Isle So glad you can move on to the next cycle. You deserve this to work. Take care.

nanoo 12 weeks!!!! A big hurdle reached. Well done you. You know we want you to stay don't you?

To all newcomers. This thread is great. It has been a huge support to me in the last few months and I'm sure when we get round to doing our next cycle I will be posting more frequently again. I will keep popping in until then. Lots of luck and best wishes to those about to start cycles and those who are waiting appointments.

I've been throwing myself into my new job and really forgot about TTC for a while which was a relief. Having paid very little attention to my cycle I decided it must be about ovulation time on Tues and did an OPK which immediately showed I was ovulating or about to. So we've had our last try naturally for this year which I have very little hope of working but I am just happy to have ovulated. I think I was worried what affect an IVF cycle would have on my natural ovulation so I am reeling quite relieved.

I am away for christmas so a big SEASON'S GREETINGS to all of you.

GW

Amberc · 24/12/2009 10:49

Just popped on to say a very merry Christmas to everyone. I presently am suffering the world's longest period due to the BC pills I'm taking. Looking forward to everything kicking off in the New Year. Good luck to us all!

mummycat1 · 26/12/2009 08:11

Massive congratulations to you LL - they are absolutely beautiful. So pleased that you put those pics on here and your words after they were born give everyone the hope and courage to carry on. Enjoy every minute of them! xxxx

Nanoo excellent news on the scan

Isle your decision to go with FET before another fresh round makes perfect sense to me. You need to give yourself as many chances as possible. Sounds like you have a tremendously supportive DH too.

I'll be doing FET around Feb/March I think - probably when GW does it so I'll be on here on a more regular basis then.

Christmas waves and good cheer to you all and for those of you who didn't get your christmas wishes this year - chin up and keep smiling into 2010

Hi all, marking my place as I've dropped off this thread! Hope everyone is having a jolly Christmas!

luckywebby · 30/12/2009 21:59

Hi just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
2010 starts with a busy week of tests for me and DH.
I've got a pelvic ultrasound and AMH blood test on Thursday and DH has a urologist consultants appointment and 2nd SA test Monday and Friday.
Dr wasn't much use so contacted fertility clinic direct, they advised us to get as many tests done as possible on NHS (SA and consultants are private)then go back and get referred from GP again.
So thats what we're doing.

nanoo · 01/01/2010 17:21

Happy 2010 to everyone! Hope it's a year full of BFPs and happiness xxxx

bluebell6 · 03/01/2010 16:11

Happy New Year everyone.

After waiting all December (mostly with my head down the loo) we finally had our first scan today and the baby is fine and due July 2010 cannot stop smiling!

To all of you about to embark on a cycle this month, all the very best to you. Never give up hope cos miracles DO happen!

ficam · 03/01/2010 16:29

Hello, can I join in please?!
I am 30 and my DH is 29, we have been married for nearly 5 years and TTC for nearly 2. Exactly 1 year ago I went to the Gp about not being able to conceive despite trying everything and unfortunately our tests showed that my DH had a very low sperm count (NHS tests all showed less than 1 million then in July a test at the fertility clinic showed 2 million) He also has 100% abnormal forms.

After lots of waiting and tests we finally got down to filling in the referral forms for one PCT funded cycle of ICSI in October. However, we dont quite know what has happened but the GP seems to have not bothered sending these forms to the PCT, despite numerous phone calls from us, and lots of empty promises from her.

So here we are, tomorrow my DH is going to phone the surgery once again and ask for copies of our referral forms so we can send them ourselves and hopefully get things moving.

It seems like its been a long haul so far but Im hoping it will all be worth it and this year will be the one we finally get the baby we long for.

RosieBeagle · 04/01/2010 14:15

Hello lovely ladies can I also join in this thread please?
To cut a v long story short - I am 31 DH 28 TTC 3.5 years after lots of wasted time and me bascially having to ask for tests after seeing different consultants every appointment, had 5 months of clomid - no monitoring on 3 x month of 50mg I had to complain and ask for blood tests, eventually ov'd on 100mg but no pregnancy (sad), Anyway now on the IVF route, currently been down regging and go for bl scan this wed to hopefully move on to next set of jabs. Feel like my whole life has been taken over by ttc and bored of it now want to move on to next stage and like everyone else am always upset at the next pregnancy that seems to come along all so easily. Find it hard to talk to DH he never wants to talk about it and i feel like a nag when ever i bring it up. Anyway would just like to pop on here and rant, let off some steam with like minded people when i can - hope thats ok! Bye for now (smile)

Cerubina · 04/01/2010 19:04

Hello and happy new year to everyone. Hope it is going well so far.

Bluebell that is great news about the scan. Congratulations! I bet you finally feel you can stop holding your breath (well, for 5 minutes). Hope all continues to go well from here and the nausea has let up.

Poppy, when is your appointment with the consultant? 4 years is such a long time to be trying, but your friends with their IVF/ICSI successes give you (and all of us) hope.

Amberc, hope your period has well and truly finished by now and you can get cracking on your next course of action. Seems weird to have to take BC pills when straining every sinew to conceive!

Luckywebby, good luck for all the tests this week. Getting yourself armed with all the facts can only be a good thing, and I hope the results are positive.

Our news is that we had our appointment at Guy's last week, and much to my surprise we immediately got accepted for a funded cycle of ICSI! We are going along for an information evening next week and, apparently, we can start really soon after that as there is no waiting list... The doctor did say we could start from day 1 of my first cycle following the information evening - which would be really soon, like early February. Does that sound plausible? Is there any admin or do they need to gauge the dosage etc before we start, or could they really get us going so soon? I will try not to get ahead of myself but it would be wonderful to start so early in 2010.

If that went to plan I could be joining you, GW and mummycat! Ficam and RosieBeagle a warm welcome to you. Ficam it is so frustrating when you are obstructed by useless GPs, I know the irritation. Taking charge of it yourself is a sensible thing to do and hopefully will really get things moving as I found the hospital have actually got us into the system more quickly than I ever expected. BTW I can't imagine what it's like to have a husband you can rely on to ring the surgery to chase, as lovely as mine is it would be like nailing jelly to the wall to get him to do something like that!

RosieBeagle this place is perfect for questions and venting and ranting. Fill your boots. It can be hard to discuss with OHs as obviously long term TTC just ends up intruding into so many areas of your life, you don't want it to be all you ever talk about or become some baby zombie. People who get pg easily truly have no idea what it does to us!

Hello to everyone I have missed.

RosieBeagle · 04/01/2010 19:32

Hi Cerubina
Thanks for the message. It does sound plausible about the ICSI it happened really quickly for us with the IVF - despite all the years of being messed about with the cons and stuff with tests and the clomid, so I dont know if we were on the waiting list all along for IVF or what but when i asked at my last hospital consultation i was told the waiting list was 12-18 months then got a phone call about a month later out of the blue to go the patient informaion evening and we started on my next cycle!
They have to do blood tests on the start of your next cycle then if all ok they will probably start it the month after.
I was in total shock with it all as didnt expect it to happen that quickly, i was still grateful for finally being on the clomid! Best of luck with it all anyway, as you say lets hope the new year brings lots of good luck our way

RosieBeagle · 04/01/2010 19:36

Oh and also forgot to say there are a LOT of forms to fill in following the patient informaion evening, lots of consent forms and be careful not to make any mistakes i felt really stupid when DH filled one in incorrectly! the nurse was lovely though at our consultation

islegrin · 04/01/2010 23:04

Happy New Year and welcome to all of the newbies - good to get some fresh and bright eyes in here!

Nanoo so glad your scan went well - somehow I knew it would. I'm so chuffed for you!! and a decade of ttc? now I feel like an amateur!

GW good luck with moving on to IVF early this year! Everything crossed for you.

mummycat I'll be just slightly ahead of you on FET this time.

Doc's office just called to ask if Feb 10 was ok for FET - SURE THING! (like I'd say no!?!) So I'll be starting Lupron next week - how that happen so fast?

Much love!

RosieBeagle · 05/01/2010 15:13

Minor rant alert! Whilst everyone else is enjoying the snow I am majorly peed off, due to the bad weather the hospital just rang and put my base line scan back a week so I have to carry on with the buserelin a week longer than necessary and i feel really bad on it ie. grumpy and tearful all the time.
I know it cant be helped but arrrggghhh! Not even got enough needles and stuff left either so will have to make a trip there anyway before then - its 20 miles away.
Sorry rant over feel a little better now! Hows everyone else doing?
Good news islegrin is this your first FET cycle?

RosieBeagle · 05/01/2010 16:12

feeling rather embarassed at last post - am a lot more rational now! best to be safe and turn up at the hospital a week late but in one piece! i am blaming my hormones!

Italiangreyhound · 05/01/2010 17:57

Hi all, can I join, please?

I have one dd, aged 5, conceived through IUI and have been ttc again since she was 9 months old.

Had a very early miscarriage 4 years ago (unassisted conception). Since then have had many failed IUI attempts and one abandoned IVF. Were told early on that donor eggs would be our best bet and we decided just under a year ago to go for it. I went on the waiting list in the UK and we are hoping to have treatment very soon (nearly had an attempt recently, that didn?t work out). This is our final attempt, unless we get any frozen embies (which is unlikely).

Very keen to shift a bit of weight before we start (New Year and all that).

Londonlottie ? just wanted to say the pictures of your babies are fab (I read back through the thread) and heard all about your dramatic story. Then I looked at the pictures, my favourite is ?6 days old - after their first bath? ? it looks like they are telling each other secrets!

Well done to Bluebell and Nanoo. RosieBeagle I don?t know your situation but when we needed more drugs (not needles but who knows) we got them from the local pharmacist via a prescription by post from the clinic. Just an idea if roads are very bad.

To all those about to go through IUI or IVF all very best wishes and maybe I can be a cycle buddy with someone if we are fortunate this time around and can get going soon!

flibbertywidget · 05/01/2010 23:16

Just checking onhere to see how everyone is.
italiangreyhound I have two kiddies conceived via Donor Eggs - FET to Blast IVF. ggood luck .... x

Penguindreams · 06/01/2010 08:44

Hello, plucking up courage to join in after many many months of lurking! I remember rushing to the computer after a week's holiday in May to see if Londonlottie and Issy had their BFPs and now look at them!

So I feel like I know all the regulars (good luck Islegrin, mummycat, GW and hooray for Bluebell/Nanoo!) and it'll feel v odd that none of you know who I am!

I started downregging at Guy's on the 1st and currently doing sniffs twice a day. Not finding them too bad (am wondering if I'm doing them right...) but a few headaches along the way.

Been trying since Oct 07 with male factor problems (poor morph and dropping count). No identified problems my end except thin lining - although I can't shake the feeling there's something wrong with me they haven't spotted!

Anyway, looking forward to posting a bit now I've made the jump - is anyone else d/r at the moment who fancies a cycle buddy?

RosieBeagle · 06/01/2010 12:13

Hi Penguin
I'm downregging too, should have been going for base line scan today but cancelled due to the snow so going Tuesday 12th jan and will then hopefully start on next set of jabs - when are you due your scan? My problem is lack of ovulation - still dont know if PCOS is the problem they sort of mentioned it but then said my ovaries were ok when I had an ulstasound scan so who knows! Dh had slightly abnormal results on his tests but then further tests proved that only slightly below average so hopefully he is ok

Penguindreams · 06/01/2010 14:48

Hi RosieBeagle - my baseline scan is the 18th, so not long after you. Which hospital are you with? How are you finding the d/r? I've spotted/bled lightly (TMI?) ever since starting the synarel which is a pain, but otherwise not too dreadful
