Starting new thread with massive congratulations to Nanoo I reckon the old man can wait till he gets home! But of course - it's up to you really xxx

OP posts:
Cerubina · 16/12/2009 21:02

The babies are just beautiful...congrats again. Looking at them, they look so big I can't actually believe you had them both squeezed inside you! Can imagine how difficult getting out of the bath must have been...

Thanks for the tips re Guy's, and it really is helpful to "know" someone who has been there and recommends it as a good experience. It is pot luck who you get referred to on the NHS, after all, so nice to know it's a good option.

Amber, I can imagine it will feel like a real shock to the system to be out of work after Monday. Perhaps you will find you take to it more easily than you expect though! Do you have any plans to tide you over the first few days/weeks while you get used to it and perhaps distract you from IVF as it gets going?

rowingboat · 16/12/2009 22:51

Lottie, that is so lovely that you have your little girls. They look so gorgeous, you must be in total shock.
This is it! It all starts now. You have got so much fun ahead of you, you are going to love it!
Take care
Maisie

Caitni · 16/12/2009 23:57

Lottie the pictures are beautiful! I actually cried a little looking at them [blames pregnancy hormones!]. I'm so happy for you that they're here safely, as you had such a bumpy ride during pregnancy. As rowingboat puts it, the fun starts now!

Amberc I'm a big fan of the Lister - I'm pregnant after one round of ICSI there and found everyone (especially the nurses!) to be lovely and helpful and I felt very much a part of my treatment, iykwim, meaning it made it easier for a control freak like me. Taking redundancy is a scary thing to do, but I can understand your logic - I'd probably do the same!

Isle glad the hysteroscopy wasn't too painful, and glad they could fix the bicornate uterus (also didn't know that could be fixed). I really think your doctor sounds excellent and I do believe she'll help you get there (I just wish I could send you some of the luck needed for this IVF lottery).

Amberc · 17/12/2009 09:36

Great to hear good things about The Lister! I did my own research but nothing better than a recommendation!

Cerubina - I think Christmas is distraction enough for now buut I'll be OK for the first few weeks anyway as I feel so shattered I just want to rest and get myself back to feeling normal again. It's once I feel normal that i'll get bored! Hoping to be preggers by then tough - fingers crossed.

How's it all gping Lottie? How are the little ones feeding?

islegrin · 17/12/2009 17:28

Lottie wow - the girls are sooo big! When I scrolled down through the photos I imagined your husband crying! (don't know if he did or not, but I wouldn't blame him a bit - they are magnificient!) I can't believe they are finally here!!! After all of the investigations, trials and tribulations - you have your little girls. Congratulations again!

Thanks all for your kind words. Monday was a really tough day mentally, and I'm so glad it's over!!! The heart shape was caused by a septum which my doc used a small instrument that went through the same hysteroscope to trim away and release it back to it's normal shape. I hope that gives us more surface area. Anyone know anything about some speckling on the endometrium? I'll know more tomorrow.

A missing-in-action person here popping in to send huge congratulations to Lottie and her DH on the arrival of your daughters - how exciting! It's so lovely to hear the happy ending to your story - although it's also a happy beginning too - I very much like your DH's facbook update

I hope you get over the surgery as soon as possible (and the nasty sounding complications) and finally have a chance to settle into your new home and get to know your new family!!

bluebell6 · 18/12/2009 09:19

LondonLottie what fantastic news! big big congratulations on the birth of your girls
Sorry to hear youve had post op complications, hope they have sorted it out now and you will heal quickly. Best recovery wishes to you.

Islegrin best recovery wishes to you too. Sounds like you have amazing doctors looking after you.

To all of you about to start cycling. Best of luck to you for this month.

Well I am still pregnant and hve been spending lots of time with head down loo over past few weeks have 12 week scan date of 3 Jan so we are holding our breath until then, just hoping all is ok with the bean. Hi to Caitni hope alls well with you.

Amberc · 18/12/2009 16:46

Bluebell - Good luck with the scan!

Lottie - how awful for you with the bladder thing! As if birth and c section recovery is not enough to contend with.

Isle - that is amazing. I think it will make a big difference helping to carry a child to term.

Too tired to write anything about myself - been up since 4.30 and cleaning the house for 4 hours.

poppy75 · 18/12/2009 16:49

Hello everyone - haven't been in for a while as the dreaded AF arrived the night before I had to test. So IUI didn't work. I felt so rubbish and just wonder what I've done to deserve this journey .

I fell pregnant 3.5 years ago so easily and quickly but mc, I just don't understand why nothing is working anymore.

I have just felt so removed from life going on around me the last two days. Will now have to consider IVF and try and convince DH that it won't be too bad as he is not keen to do it.

Went to see a friend with an 8 week old today - she was doing acupuncture on me when she fell pregnant in the first month of trying - so it really made me feel really rubbish. She is so sweet and really supportive but I really feeljust sorry for myself at the moment.

bluebell2 so happy to hear good news hope you are going on ok and lots of sickness is a really good sign .

Amberc · 18/12/2009 19:37

Oh Poppy - you poor thing. I feel the same about why nothing is working. I conceived very quickly but luckily I have a little boy. Now two years down the line my AMH levels are even lower than recommended for IVF. We are still going to try anyway.

Wht isn't DH keen? What is it that he doesn't like?

KiwiKat · 18/12/2009 22:40

Hello, can I join you? I'm 43, have a ds, 3.6 and have been trying for about 2.5 years for #2. We're booked in for IVF in February. It's so nice to read on this thread that there have been some successes. Congratulations on the babies and the beans.

I'm friends with Rowingboat and Clure from other threads (waves) so they can vouch that I'm well-behaved.

rowingboat · 18/12/2009 22:45

Waves at Kiwi [watch her though - seriously ]
I'm not really on here very often, but had to pop in and congratulate Lottie as we had treatment at roughly the same time.
Poor you Lottie, that bladder thing sounds awful.
I'm schedule for FET either this month or next.

Amberc · 19/12/2009 09:42

Hi Kiwicat! I'm booked in Jan so can hopefully be useful x

KiwiKat · 19/12/2009 12:28

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Amber, and will be taking notes! And for you too, Rowing. x

flibbertywidget · 19/12/2009 21:52

LL - --- MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND HOOOOOOOOOOOGE CONGRATS to you and DH and your beautiful girls. they are gorgeous and I love their names. Well ya did it! - sorry to hear you are feeling so sore. But just keep staring at those little munchkins and remember it is sooo worth it.

I hope you are getting as much rest as possible. Well done darling xxxxxxx

tattycoram · 21/12/2009 12:56

Hallo, can I join you? DH and I were told last week that our only hope of another baby is through ICSI. We're 38 and 43 and have one sone who will be three in January. We got pg straightaway when ttc ds but it seems that that was a lucky fluke.

So, on our first referral to Guys we were told ICSI or nothing (wd have to fund it obviously as we already have one dc).

I am slightly reeling at us having got to this point so quickly. I think we will probably do it, but I am really not sure. It feels really rushed.

So - what else can I do to increase our chances? And should we just got with Guys? HFEA tables show that there are other clnics in London with higher success rates, but I am very confused about it. The doctor we saw cited rates of 40% but that can't be right, can it?

Help!

nanoo · 21/12/2009 13:56

londonlottie!!! I can't believe it. They are SO beautiful. After everything you've been through - what a journey. And thank you for sharing it with us. Well done you - an inspiration to us all. (am I allowed to say that I got all choked up with I saw them? just can't believe it - had to show DH!!! )

Isle how did Friday go? Have been thinking of you. Just really pleased they managed to take action, rather than just take a look, that's gotta be good news

Waving to everyone else - and welcome to the neebies. Got my 12 week scan tomorrow, but feeling horribly nervous as the doc couldn't find a heartbeat on the doppler last week

Amberc · 21/12/2009 15:43

Bundles of luck for the scan nanoo - let us know how it went.

Tatty, success rates vary on your individual circumstances so they should be able to plug in your details and get your 'likelihood' of success. I have the same situationh as you - one son conceived easily and now everything's gone to pot. We are at The Lister.

Oh my word londonlottie your daughters are so beautiful!!!!! I love the pic of them together in their cot. It looks like they've got amazingly elegant long legs. Oh dear, I've a lump in my throat now.

islegrin · 21/12/2009 17:54

nanoo Your nerves are totally understandable, but try to breathe through it. I took comfort in LL saying it might be a bit too early to see on doppler. She knows a lot more about this stage than I do. I'm wishing you the best results possible!!!

Friday went alright - bad news is that even my "good tube" isn't functioning up to 100% so there's some sort of problem with both tubes although the right is better than the left. Good news is the the ute has popped back into normal shape and should be ready to roll. Guess septum can explain some implantation failure, so hopefully our chances went up with its removal - but of course no one can say exactly how much.

Doc wants to do another round of fresh IVF, but over the weekend DH and I discussed and we think we should try FET with the last three embryos then move on to another cycle of IVF. Looks like I'll be starting BC pills as soon as Day 2 of next cycle, which might be as early as this week!

bluebell6 · 21/12/2009 19:58

LondonLottie just worked out how to look at your pics.

They
are
beautiful

well done YOU!!!

bluebell6 · 22/12/2009 08:57

Nanoo thinking of you, hope the scan goes really well

islegrin · 22/12/2009 17:18

Nanoo ditto from me!
