Starting new thread with massive congratulations to Nanoo I reckon the old man can wait till he gets home! But of course - it's up to you really xxx

hello, I'm hoping one of you ladies can help with a question. I've been ttc for nearly 2 years (I have DD who is 4 conceived with clomid) I'm 42. Have been told that I will probably have early meno as my hormone levels are SO wonky and I'm only having a period every 2-3 months (FSH - 36, suggests limited egg supply) Anyway my question relates to my recent day 21 progesterone levels which consultant said are very low - his measurement said 1.3. I have no idea what this means. Can anyone shed any light? many thanks in anticipation

Clure · 12/12/2009 20:05

should also have said, just completed cycle 4 of clomid and consultant recommended ivf with donor eggs

Amberc · 12/12/2009 20:15

Sorry Clure - I am an assisted conception virgin so hope someone else comes along to answer your question!

Lottie - I remember being 35 weeks preggers but with one not two! I was convinced I would only reach 37 weeks because I was so huge but clearly managed to go overdue! How exciting for you (and uncomfortable I bet)! I am on long microdose with pill protocol. I acyually have no idea what this means. I am just waiting to get my period before taking the pill until 6 Jan. Funnily enough my period is late but I put that down to the fallopian tubes dye test thing I had.Clealry wuld save me a lot of time/money and emotional madness if it was becuase I was PG!
I have however been led to believe that this would be as likely as the second coming so won't get my hopes up.

What does clomid do by the way? I have a friend that had her first using it and then used up some of her leftover pack to help her with number 2. Onlyt thing is that a friend of hers has now started to take her leftover pills without being advised to do so by a doctor. That's not good is it?

Do I have a cycle buddy? I have my first scan on 6 Jan...

nomoremagnolia · 13/12/2009 15:04

clure the day 21 test is to see if you ov - though day 21 is a bit misleading - it needs to be 7 days before period so on a 28 day cycle that would be right but if your cycles are all over the place then it might be that the test is showing no ov because the test is being done too early. anyway anything over 30 is indicative of ov, so yours is low in that it doesn't show ov. having said that it could be showing on ov as you hadn't ov'd by the time of the test as itwas done on the wrong day.
amber clomid stimulates the ovaries to 'over work' and create eggs - totally a bad idea if you haven't got a diagnosis of non-ov, and even then you need to monitored on it as over-stimulation can be dangerous and also there's no point taking drugs if you don't have the roblem they'ew designed to fix. finally it's important not to take it for more than 6 cycles as well - there are worries about cancer links and also frankly if it hasn't worked in 6mo then you've probably got a bigger 'problem' why you're not conceiving.

poppy75 · 13/12/2009 17:03

Hello guys,

Was just wondering if anyone else was having IUI?? I am 10 days post IUI and I am really struggling with the 14 day wait before testing. I haven't had any symptoms so am thinking it might not have worked, but deep down I am praying I'm wrong.

I've been ttc 3.5 years with 1 miscarriage 3 years ago. I think I had really strong symptoms from the start of that pregnancy so am thinking that all those injections etc... might have gone to waste!

islegrin · 14/12/2009 08:01

poppy just try to hang on for another couple of days before you test - I know that 9 DPO and on are the worst part of the rollercoaster. Scream a little, it can help! Seriously, go distract yourself with something, hold on just a few more days! best of luck!

nomore Sounds fun [freak]! nah, I know what you mean, I usually want to watch and see everything, makes me feel more involved and more in control (even when I'm not at all). however, tomorrow I'll be out with a gentle anesthesia because doc is doing a three in one procedure (hsg, operative hysteroscopy and hopefully opening up a tube) so I'm very glad I will be out! Not to mention, the anesthesia is wonderful - very easy, no sickness... but I'm not looking forward to the soreness afterward (and the sex restriction).

clure welcome to this side of the threads - I hope the ivf works right away. Are you at all concerned about donor eggs? I know there are a couple of ladies here who are considering them, one on her way to ATHENS soon! So you'll have some company if your journey takes you that way.

bumpless, LL, nanoo, gingerwine thinking of you and waves to the rest of the fabulous women of A/C!

Clure · 14/12/2009 18:13

hi islegrin, I remember you from another clomid thread! We haven't as yet decided to go down the ivf route as it would very probably have to be with donor eggs and I haven't quite yet got my head around that one!

poppy75 · 14/12/2009 20:31

Islegrin thanks I was bad and tested this morning BFN - but don't know if it was too early or was a real negative! So you were right I shouldn't have done it as it hasn't helped. So two days to go and I am just doing everything to keep busy!

This ttc really has turned me a little bit freaky!!

Amberc · 14/12/2009 21:06

poppy it needn't be negative just too early for you to have enough hormone to tell.

Saying that i very weirdly did a preggo test yeterday which was positive. Very odd considering I'm not meant to be able to do that! Still feeling periody and did another test this morning which was negative but went positive a few hours later (yes I know I should disregard this). Hmmm - what to think. Well whatever the outcome I think it is a good thing that I got a positive even if it was only for one day. Shows my body is at least trying!

Amberc · 14/12/2009 21:06

ps why is there no festive biscuit icon?

flibbertywidget · 15/12/2009 13:36

Hi Ladies
nomore - yes, Louis is my second IVF egg donation success story -- he is my adorable angel, just like his sister - who was my first IVF egg donation success story. (I have no ovaries thanks to the big C!)

amberc - I would go and have a blood test to see if PG or otherwise. It has been know to happen, right before the start of fertility treatment. Good luck

poppy - sending you hugs, i know how horrid that second week is. i think i caved during my last ivf and tested early. remember each pg is very different, some with symptoms, some with not. Good luck for you xxx

I am languishing in bed today, I have some horrific virus which has resulted in a 24 hour toilet hugging bonanza and now every joint aches and I have a cold and cough. Scarlett had it last week, keeping fingers crossed that Louis doesn't get it. Just waiting for DH to get it as then he will diagnose manflue and I can forget any assistance for xmas!

LL - hope you are ok, I am off to France next week to "celebrate" crimbo with the pains in law. So no doubt will miss your BA. I hope everything goes wonderfully for you and your two little girls. If you still have my email, please send me piccies.

hugs to you all xxx

Wow! Huge Congratulations Lottie

Amberc · 16/12/2009 09:53

I'm made up for you Lottie - what a wonderful Christmas present!

Got my period today so on day 1 of my first ever cycle - very excited!

Caitni · 16/12/2009 10:16

Lottie a big welcome to the world to your little girls . Here's to an absolutely lovely Christmas and new year to the four of you. I can't wait to see pictures

DollyGumbo · 16/12/2009 15:10

Well done Lottie! Congratulations!
And thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement.

flibberty those viruses can really knock you out, hope you're feeling a bit better today, and will be ok to travel next week.

Amberc congrats on your first day! I start my first cycle around the end of Jan, long protocol too, so I'll be watching you closely

poppy75 any news? Got my fingers crossed for you xx

islegrin · 16/12/2009 16:28

Massive CONGRATS Lottie!!! I was just thinking this morning - wonder what I've missed, wonder if LL had her babies! YAY for Juliet and Eve. I second the notion that it is all random... but I'm so happy for you that it's resulted in beautiful, healthy twins!!!

Flibberty hope you get over the bug very soon.

Clure completely understandable, but think about the end result - a shiny new baby - and get your head around the ideas so you can hold that one in your arms! Best!!!

islegrin · 16/12/2009 17:30

Oh - forgot to say that I had the hysteroscopy done on Monday. Not very painful at all, I'm suprised. But the emotional mind twisting was and stil is difficult. They found a heart-shaped womb, and corrected that but could not repair my left tube. Have an appt on Friday to review and decide on next steps.

xx

gingerwine · 16/12/2009 17:58

CONGRATS to Lottie. That's fantastic news. I'm so glad it all went ok and they are both safe and sound and with their mummy and daddy. All that matters for the time being is resting and feeding. I hope you feel a bit better physically soon. Take care. Oh and I'd love to see some piccies when you are up to it.

Islegrin Glad the hysteroscopy wasn't too bad. All the best for Fridays appointment. Hopefully correcting the shape of the womb may make a difference.

Just a quick one from me as in the middle of christmas stuff!!

Hello to everyone else.

Cerubina · 16/12/2009 19:22

LL that is AMAZING news. Reading about it brought tears to my eyes, what lovely names, what great weights and I'm so pleased your story has a happy ending. Hope you and your OH and families enjoy getting to know the little ones, and that you can put the CS experience behind you soon and are more comfortable soon too. What a lovely early Christmas present.

Isle it's good to hear that the hysteroscopy went smoothly, though shame they couldn't repair the tube. I suppose that was always a bit of a long shot but would have been great eh. Take some time now to enjoy Xmas and look forward to a new year, which I hope will bring you better things.

Hello to all the new ladies and returning ladies I haven't "met" yet. Poppy in particular good luck with the 2WW agonies, hope the distraction techniques are successful.

I have been checking in here for developments but been quiet as nothing to say really... CD6 so gearing up for more attempts to manage it naturally (which is not that appealling in the arctic conditions of our bedroom!) but two weeks today we have our first appointment (at Guy's - so hoping for some of Lottie's luck there) and I reaaallly can't wait to get cracking. I know it'll be all admin and getting sent for tests to start with, but it'll be a huge relief to actually make a start on this road.

There's a teeny little bit of snow on the ground here, feels v Christmassy!

Lottie - your babies are gorgeous - the spooning picture is wonderful! I am paying privately for treatment at The Lister and you can't speak to anyone there either. Also they are so busy that you have to wait 30 mins beyond your app time too so no difference really. They have got Molton Brown in the bathroom though .

There is also snow here - unfortunately it's settled and turned top mush which will be ice tomorrow worse lukck.

It was my penultimate day at work tody. My last day is Monday and then I am unemployed. I am really scared! I took redundancy because of the lump sum as I knew we'd need it for the IVF. Also I can't do work, childcare, looking after the house and IVF - something had to give and it's work. Very odd feeling though as since I was 17 I've only ever been out of work once and that was for 6 weeks but I temped the whole way through it.

Isle - my sister also has a heart shaped womb (bicornuate) She is preggers at the mo - 14 weeks. I didn't know they could change the shape - I wonder why my sis was never offered it.

Cerubina - good luck with ARctic BD! I must admit it will be strange not having to time shagging this month. We've been doing it for so long I can't remember sex for the sake of it!
