Why haven't my periods come back after coming off pill?

My husband and I are planning on TTC as of January 1st and so I came off the pill at the end of August in preparation. I still haven't had a period or any bleeding and I am really worried. I know I am not pregnant. I have had some cramping around the time I think I should be nearing a period each month but no bleeding. We are both so desparate to start a family and it is really worrying me that there is something wrong. How long does it take for periods to come back? Has anyone else had to wait a long time for periods to come back? Thank you!

First time off the pill i waited about 3 or 4 months for a period, slightly less this time round. I asked my doc since I was worried about having long cycles since coming off the pill this time and he reckons no need for concern until a year after stopping.

I think that's excessive though so if you're still worried over the next few months you should maybe go see about it.

i thought they came back straight away? maybe go see a doc, just to check. Are you sure your not pg?

When I came off the pill to ttc dd I had an initial withdrawal bleed and then nothing for exactly six months. Its very frustrating and expensive as I was constantly buying pg tests. GP wasn't interested until I had gone 6 months without af and told me its a normal response ( I was on the pill for 9 years too) just one they don't mention when you go on it.

Sorry it's not the news you were perhaps looking for, but I did conceive dd in the month folowing my first real af.

It's really helped to get others perspectives - especially as we haven't mentioned ttc to friends and family as since we got married we have constantly been asked if I am pg or ttc and we don't want the added pressure! I think I might give it another month and then make an appt to see the dr just to mention it to him and see what he says.
