Can I ask a TMI question about my light periods?

Since coming off the pill to TTC 6 months ago, my periods have been very light. They were also light when I was on the pill.

I am pretty regular (26 - 30 days) but despite DTD I haven't fallen pregnant yet - I do know it's early days.

I wondered if my light periods were a "sign" of anything to worry about.

Basically on day 1 I get through 1 slim pad. The blood is brown, and kind of clotty and mainly comes out when I wipe. There may be some slightly redder blood first thing.

Day two I also only use one pad and there is only a small amount of blood, again, mainly when I wipe. Day three is about the same and then that's it.

It is certainly a period - eg, it would stain clothes without the pad, but I'm worried that I'm not getting pregnant because my lining is really light, or there is some other reason for the light periods.

I'm a normal weight, and am generally healthy.

Any thoughts at all?

what were your periods like before you went on the pill? how long were you on the pill for?

I don't know if it would be reassuring for you, but my periods were always very light (and close together - 3 weeks some times). I'd been in the pill for 15 years when I stopped. It took me 12 months to get pregnant, though I was in my mid-30s at the time.

That said, I'm no expert and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

I was on the pill for around 16 years and I can't really remember my periods before that - I think they were heavier than they are now, but never classed as "heavy".

Your post is reassuring though, I am early 30s and I know I"ve only been trying for 6 months, it just feels like forever I think.

if the not getting pregnant carries on, you could always ask for a blood test to check that your hormones are in working order.

I thought it was amazing when I was trying to get pregnant - all those years avoiding it, panicking every month in case my period didn't happen. Then the minute I decide I want it to happen, it took a flipping age!!

I think I might do that totallyawesome.

I agree re the avoiding though! I really don't think I would have bothered with the pill all these years if I had known how flippin tricky it is to get pregnant even when you're doing everything "right".
