Anyone come off Cerazette to TTC?
Read some horror stories about a high rate of MCs if successful 1st time we try....

Hmm thats worrying me now. I was on cerazette and have subsequently had 2 MC - is there a link?

ginhag · 23/09/2009 22:51

Dunno if it helps but I was on cerazette for years. took a bit over 6 months to conceive, all was thoroughly fine,ds now 20 mo.

2nd time around am having problems, mmc etc but nothing to do with cerazette!

Macarena · 23/09/2009 23:07

Thanks ginhag.

PolarBear - having had a look at some of the info there seems to be a link (don't want to worry anyone though).

Funny you should say that. After taking a mere month to conceive DS1, I then went on Cerazette for about 8 months. I waited six weeks for a period (which is fairly normal apparently) and had two miscarriages and a termination for medical reasons. It took us two years to conceive a "keeper" and I am now 33 weeks Pg.

Whether its just a coincidence since miscarriages are 1 in 4 anyway and Cerazette is widely used, I don't know. Maybe there is a link though...?

Poledra · 12/10/2009 13:10

Was on Carazette for about 18 months between DDs 2 and 3. Took about 6 months to concieve DD3 (less time than for DD1, more than for DD2, so nothing significant there I think). DD3 did have some medical issues but these were quite clearly nothing to do with the Cezarette.

Can anyone help me?
I was on microgynon for 3 years, then my doctor put me on Cerazette because i gained weight. Ive been on Cerazette for a year and a half and i have to admit i missed a pill every now and again but i never had a bleed. Unless i stopped taking them for a couple of days and my bleed kicked in right away. It was just your average bleed not too sore or heavy. My partner and i are TTC and i came off my cerazette and within 3 days my period had started and it was quite heavy. I finished yesterday but i was wondering if the fact my periods came straight away is a good thing? And if its sort of showing my body is regulating itself fairly quickly. Has anyone experienced this? And did you find it fairly quick to conceive? Any advice of stories would be very much appreciated. Thanks

PoppyIsApain · 24/10/2009 12:41

I had been on Cerezette for 4 years, came off it and it took me a couple of months to concieve, TTC again now, will let you know how that works out
Needsadvice19, that sounds pretty normal for a period after stopping cerezette, good luck

Monsterspam · 25/10/2009 23:47

Hmm, hope it's just coincidence.

Appleton · 26/10/2009 15:18

This is only my experience, and I don't know if there's a link at all.

I was on Cerazette after having DD, so for about 16 months. I stopped taking it at the start of this month, and found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago. At a scan at EPU on Friday I discovered it was ectopic, and had to have one of my tubes removed with the pregnancy that day.

Sory if this worries anyone, I'm sure there are lots of success stories too - who knows if I'd have had the same outcome if I hadn't been on Cerazette. I would definitely wait a good while after coming off any pill before trying again, though.

Monsterspam · 26/10/2009 19:12

So sorry Appleton.

tory83 · 21/08/2010 23:02

i have been on this pill for 2 months as i was on Micronor and had similar problems but assured that i wouldn't have any problems with this one and that i should stop my periods completely....oh well that hasn't happened almost 10 weeks of continuous bleeding and it isn't like fresh blood, migraines have been nearly twice a week. Totally agree with this being a wonderful contraception it just isn't a pleasant thought of having sex.
After the last bad experience with these two pills i am coming off of them completely. I'm not allowed any of the other stuff because i suffer with migraines and due to not having had children i've been told i cant have the coil. Looks like it is going to be down to the man to wear a triple condom!!

Hi everyone am new to the site, nice to meet you all. I have been on cerezette for four years as i already have two children and was pretty sure i wanted no more. They are 13, and 11, now and i'm 39 (next week). My husband and i have decided we would like to try for a girl before my time is definatley too late...
My periods were very heavy and painful so the cerezette suited me at first the mood swings were horendous but now no problems and no periods. My concern is i've read of a lot of people having miscarriages when coming off and trying straight away. I asked my doctor and she said it was wrong and i just need to finish the packet then start trying. There was no evidence to say cerezette causes the miscarriage.as the hormone in the pill is the same found naturally in the body and the fertility almost straight away comes back. can any one advise? Am worried what to do.

lemonbergamot · 11/09/2010 22:37

Hi

I came off Cerezette and became pregnant about 2 weeks later (no period). Had a no problems at all in pregnany and a healthy baby who is now 6 months. Just wanted to add a success story.
Am back on it now as it obviously works for me. That said worried that if I miss a pill I could end up pregnant again (can't afford another baby yet), so considering copper coil.

stargirl99 · 12/09/2010 16:29

hi lemonbergamont,
A lovely nice story could you tell me how long you was on the cerazette pill for as your fertility was probably more the shorter you had been on it. Very happy for you it worked first time.Did you delibratley go straight for it or did your period just not come for a few weeks so you tried any way.
thanks for help.

lemonbergamot · 12/09/2010 20:33

Hi

I was on it for 6 months to a year, switched from Cilest which gave me high blood pressure. Had been on that for 6 months to a year too (can't remember when the switch was made but on both for about 18 months in total).

Prior to that had had a years gap- certainly no longer, and before that various pills and the injection over about 10 years.

I didn't wait for a period, I went straight for it but was shocked to get pregnant straight away as had decided it would take '6 months'. Had begun charting so I had an idea when my fertility returned in case it took a while.
I wanted to have something to show th Dr if needs be e.g. look I'm not ovulating or whatever....just dug out my chart- stopped pill 11/5
temperature shot up 7/6
negative test 9/6
positive test 14/6

Good luck- oh and a woman I work with did the same as me (don't know which pill).
My Mum waited 1 month after stopping the pill before conceiving the next with both my sister and I.

stargirl99 · 14/09/2010 13:09

did you have a boy or girl? As i really want a girl i love my boys to death but a girl would complete our family.

lemonbergamot · 15/09/2010 19:29

Hi, I had a boy.
Would also love a girl- considering charting again and trying the whole timing thing next time. Then again may be better just to go for it!

stargirl99 · 15/09/2010 21:05

Am finishing my cerezette got a week left then my ddoctor advised i have a period then try. I am going to bring down sperm level so favourable for a girl. keep my husband in tight briefs haha. Then stop on day 7. move causiously up a day each month till you catch. its a lot of work as ive tried before but this will be the last time as ive allready had two c-sections and a very difficult pregnancy with my first. I dont bother with the temperature thing as timing is better although hot baths before sex is said to improve chances. good luck for a girl to all who are trying.
