Taking clomid without medical advice.

Just asking for a friend. She's being trying for about 19 months for DC2 with a brief success and then a miscarriage at 5 weeks almost a year ago.

Her best friend was prescribed 3 months of clomid and fell pregnant the first cycle so has given it to her. My friend want to take it to speed things up (she wanted a close gap between one and two but this is clearly not happening.

I just wondered if anybody else has done this. I'm off tho bed soon but will check tomorrow evening so please don't be offended if don't reply straight away

No it's dangerous. Could make you ill.

Clomid can have all sorts of side effects;

nausea
vomiting
tiredness
mood swings (in my case distressingly so)
blurred vision
headaches

I also think that it can lead to Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) which can at the very worst be life threatening.

I think your friend would be taking a terrible, ill-considered risk to take Clomid without medical supervision.

Please tell her - don't do it...

That was my opinion but she's getting so desperate I was hoping somebody would come on and say it would all be fine!

HAs she been to the GP? IF she's been TTC for so long the GP should refer her to see a fertility consultant. They will do the appropriate tests to see if she has any problems. They would also be the ones to prescribe clomid if they thought it was needed.
