Hi all, fairy yes we do have the same cycle, thats good we can talk through your last cycle of clomid. I hope this one works for you before you have IVF
I've already pre-warned DP that we got to have plenty of sex this month, his reaction was 'ok darling, we will' with a big on his face.
Good luck all ttc xxx

Clure · 16/01/2010 14:19

hi all

what a wet and miserable day. Poor DH went out for one of his mammouth bike rides and got a soaking. He came back even with 2 pairs cycling gloves on he couldn;t feel his hands and I had to pull his gloves off (that's teach him to go off on a super long bike ride!!) Then we had a flood in the kitchen, one of the pipes under sink came away just as the washing machine was emptying..........all over floor. An hour clean up job. Still the under sink area is now tidy and spotles!

fairy - a good bit of pampering is a good idea. Do you have any aromatherapy oils? i'd recommend lavender and chamomile. Will have a think about some veggie stuff for you

popsy - oooh the image of summer evenings is a fab one!

well I have just spent some time getting all my cycle dates/clomid/period info down plus list of queries ready for consultant on monday. NOT looking forward to it one bit.

wishing you all tonnes of after eight flavoured babydust xx

Fairygodmother1 · 16/01/2010 17:32

Beck Dh is already chomping at the bit in prep of this month. lol. I've had a good rest this afternoon & feel a little more on top of things. Lots of fruit tea and marshmallows in bed! Now waiting for my veggies tonight!

Clure I do have - I use lavender a lot when I'm not feeling too great. I'll get them out later!
My thoughts will be with you on Monday! Big hugs (())

Hi all, I've really appreciated reading all your stories, wow some of you have really been through the mill. I have so much respect that you are still going, and on here supporting others!

I've been told to go in monthly for blood tests whilst on clomid, but I won't see a specialist for it its just a general drop in blood test clinic - does anyone know if they'll be able to tell if I ovluate from those tests? Or is it just to check that hormone levels don't go too high?

now done 2 months without caffeine and alcohol - seems better, my skin seems a bit clearer (get quite bad acne) and bleeding mid month has calmed down. Does anyone else have with pcos have tips they feel have really worked?

I've had that hypos scan with the dye and it was justs like a smear, though pinched a bit on the side where i am blocked. The cons i saw made it sound like there wasn't anything they could do to find out why it was blocked other than 'just one of those thing's - anyhone know of any other tests that i could ask for to find out why its blocked?

Is creme egg flavoured fairy dust too early?? good luck to all. x

Clure · 16/01/2010 23:24

hi

carebear - If your monthly tests are on day 21 and measure progesterone they will (hopefully) determine if you have ovulated - not always accurate if your cycles are irregular (like mine!!) other than that they may test FSH LH and oestrogen but they generally don;t do this every month, mine have tended to be when I see the consultant. I can't offer any knowledge about tests for blocked tubes but I would definately not settle for a consultant implying "one of those things" you maybe need to push for further investigations. Well done on giving up caffeine and alcohol!

oh dear, I have succumbed to the dreaded google and my mind is now totally boggled with ivf and donor egg info. I have tied myself up in knots. Thinking I should have a bit of knowledge before monday -not sure if it was very clever. oh well .....

zayja · 17/01/2010 00:34

Hi Ladies,
I've peeked in here, occasionally lurking, anticipating it may be time soon for more drastic measures. Hope it is Ok if I join?

I'm ttc#1,had a mmc last April and dh and I both 34. Recent tests came back mostly ok-dh's morphology a bit poor. Anyway, doctor is recommending Clomid and IUI this month. Not sure I'll have time for IUI since I'm a teacher and ov time falls during first week of second semester, don't think I can miss. DH thinks we should just try clomid for the first month anyway.

It's been helpful to read all of your experiences to know what to expect. Thank you! Anyway, sorry to hijack! Hoping to be part of a support system

Fairygodmother1 · 17/01/2010 10:32

Hi Carebear Creme egg flavour is perfect. What do you mean by tips? I have pcos. I only drink fruit tea. Need to buy nettle & a grapefruit one as I remember on here someone said nettle before ovulation & grapefruit makes your lining more sticky!I had ovulated.
I agree with Clure about a second opinion on the tubes. Maybe some sort of laser treatment can be offered. I have PCOS & my tubes are fine so it needs investigating as to why one is blocked.
The blood tests I had done were day 21 which told the cons whether or not I was ovulating.

Clure I've managed to stay away from google so far - bed is a good place cos I don't have wireless internet (yet!). Good that you are prepared cos I went thinking I was going to be offered IUI (cos the GP told me there was a note on my file) but the cons actually asked us what we think should happen next. I was only armed with metformin & thinking IUI was next. That stumbled us a bit.

Welcome zayja. Sorry to hear your news. I'm also a teacher beginning to worry how I'm going to get away with IVF timetables in my school. Thank god i have a fantastic class & everyone will be happy to cover them.

Well I'm in a much better mood today. The weather seems to have picked up slightly (well we have sunshine & it's above freezing now lol).

Fridgefreezer arrived at 9.30 this morning so yay to that too!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 17/01/2010 11:17

carebear

I would be looking into getting a second opinion on the blocked tube; think it was appalling actually that your cons said, "it was one of those things" and did not suggest anything further.

jobobpip08 · 17/01/2010 13:37

Hi all

fairy glad to see you seem a bit perkier.

carebear i vote with everyone, second opinion needed. And mmmm creme eggs....

hi zayja nice to have you on board and sorry to hear about your m/c, I have found everyone fantastic here for their support.

popsy I'll match your summer evenings and raise you - how about heavily pregnant summer evenings? Hope you're doing ok at the mo.

clure extreme way to get the kitchen clean! I don't think it hurts to do a bit of research and at least familiarise yourself with what everything means, how it works, etc to make the most of your cons appointment. Knowledge is power, IMO. I believe IVF is fairly successful with donor eggs. Good luck tomorrow.

Well, 9.4C and sunny here, like snow never happened. Will try and send some sun your way!

going with..creme egg babydust (do you know how hard this is - we have a corner shop over the road!!) xxxxx

popsy1 · 17/01/2010 14:43

Hi all

Hello zayja Fairy glad you are feeling brighter. A DVD and hot bath did the trick! If it was only that simple hey hun??
Carebear yep i'm with everyone as well. Ask away
Clure i've researched loads. I think as we all go further and further down this line, you become a little better at deciding what you want and more to the point, what you don't want. I'm with jo Knowledge is POWER JO wow what a lovely thought, what i'd give to know that was gunna happen It's a lovely day here as well. Gunna go for a walk after lunch/dinner.
I'm on CD33 and have dull aches, slight back ache and tender boobs so dont think this is gunna be my month again Maybe month 7 will be

love to all

Venetia2 · 17/01/2010 17:14

Hi all,

hello to all the new people!

Clure good luck with your appointment tomorrow.

Stomach cramps and really no doubt where they are heading . This isn't my month-feeling down as IUI is fast approaching and I really thought I might get away with it. Still have enough Clomid for a second month so will have another go at that I guess.

Have no idea why this month (of all the months we have been trying for) I got my hope up so much, maybe the Clomid and everything, I thought I might get lucky.

Cream egg flavoured baby dust sounds amazing

Fairygodmother1 · 17/01/2010 17:36

Hi Ven

I think we can all sympathise. I really thought it was gonna be my month. I dreamt that we'd go to the appointment & the cons would tell me I'm actually preg! We had done tons of BDing & I had really tried to rest over xmas (away from work & family as much as possible).

Af came to spoil that! Even after all the symptoms I had.

I'm on my last cycle now of clomid & waiting on my IVF.

Good luck Clure tomorrow. Thinking of you!

xxxx

popsy1 · 17/01/2010 18:03

Meant to say in my post good luck for tomorrow clure. Hope it goes your way
xx

Clure · 17/01/2010 18:27

hi girls, thanks so much for your good wishes, it means a lot, particularly as you all know exactly how I'm feeling. Had good chat with DH earlier and feel a bit more settled about our appointment and about the sorts of things we want to know etc.

hi to all of you
ven - know exactly where you are coming from, we just get our hopes up on some cycles and come crashing down when it's not to be. When do you go for IUI?
popsy - hope af doesn't get you. Do you have many more months of clomid?
Fairy - hope you are feeling better now.

Have kept very busy today, did a good run then did loads of house jobs and school work. Just ate veggie toad in the hole - it was vegan batter and was a bit too squashy, me and DD left the squidgy bits but DH (who will eat ANYTHING) scoffed it all. Off to give DD a bath and get the nit comb out!

lashings of babydust xxxx
will tune in tomorrow to update on my appointment xxxxx

zayja · 17/01/2010 19:53

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Well, just picked up my Clomid at the pharmacy and will start the first cycle today. From reading on here, sounds like PM is the best time to take it? Mixed feelings, kind of excited but nervous and DON'T want to get my hopes up. This ttc business has been going on for almost 2 years now and I've had hopes dashed too many times. Also, heard cm may dry up a bit, so have picked up evening primrose oil. Any experience with this?
clure, hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

babydust to all xxxx

CareBear1 · 17/01/2010 19:53

Good luck tomorrow Clure. Hope it goes well.
Went to bed last night for the first time in a long while feeling like one of a group rather than the odd one out, which is very cool, thanks ladies.

I so know what you mean about hopes and different months - weird how some months are fine and others knock you for six.

Always remember what Joe McElderry says...don't stop believing!

CareBear1 · 17/01/2010 19:57

Hi Zayja, I'm the same as you, 2 yrs ttc and just started first cycle of clomid - taken 4 tablets so far, feel ok so far but probably too early to tell. what is cm? am not fluent in the on line lingo yet!

Fairygodmother1 · 17/01/2010 20:44

Thanks Stac, I'm ok hon emotionally - physically I've got a running nose that is blocked, sinus headache, sore throat & achy. Flu has finally hit. Ooh & body temperature of a furnaceman's welly as Dave Meyers would say!

Gotta say that clomid side effects are none now! So it takes 5 cycles or is my body too used to it?

carebear you'd be amazed how many people are the same as you. Clure & I work together but didn't realise we were going through similar things till we met on here!!! Also I've noticed from getting onto the 'bus threads' that only about 5/20+ on them are actually getting preg & very few of them are being 'aided'. It's such a hit & miss game of battleships almost. We've just been given a harder job because someone has almost gotten rid of the co-ordinates!!!
It's def good to have people to talk to. We'll get there in the end. Over two years for me too!

Have a good monday tomorrow & Clure I'll be with you in thoughts.

I'm back off to my sick bed with my roll of tissue & hot drink

You certainly are one of the group carebear, it only has the best members
stac my cycles usually are about 32 days, but with the metformin and the supposidly late ov i haven't a clue how long this will be. BUt i have swollen, achy boobs, been tearful (i cried because someone hadn't emailed me the planning!!) back ache and low crampy pains. So not gunna get too hopeful
DH and i went for a walk earlier and he was 'ever the optimist', had a 'few words' about the fact that i am still hopeful just have a few low moments after each set backs. I know he's trying to keep our spirits up, but just for once i would like him to say "this is shit, 6 months down the line and no further on!"
clure this is my 6th month and i have 3 more to go. They've added metformin this cycle. Then she said its IUI or IVF, gave us a load of info (and prices ) to come away with.

xxxxxxx mmmmm strawberries and cream flavoured baby dust

CareBear1 · 17/01/2010 21:38

Fairy - battleships! i like that. blindfolded maybe? hope you feel better in the next couple of days, think you said you'd taken a couple of days off - bit of r&r will hopefully help.

popsy i always find the last couple of days of cycle so hard to keep 'level' and not get really pessimistic, and let me say it for your DH - this is SO shit!!!

am contemmplating accupuncture but needles are not my favourite thing

xxxxx lindor chocolate fairy dust to you all.

jobobpip08 · 17/01/2010 22:00

stac i am dieting myself, am being rather lazy due to the cold, still managed to lose a few pounds but must make more of an effort this week.

carebear I do acupuncture, its not too bad.

Poor DH is still quite poorly but will 'force himself' tonight as I've got my scan tomorrow. Not sure what is going on this month, no pain, no cm (cervical mucus - can't remember who asked) not sure I am ovulating. We'll see.

Clure · 17/01/2010 22:31

hi all

thanks stac, hope you are good?

zayjay - evening primrose only till you ovulate, thats what my reflexologist said

carebear - maybe the clomid will give you the kickstart you need. Fingers crossed eh?

thanks to the rest of you for your good wishes. Think I am now going down with a cold and sore throat type thing. Typical!! Off to bed now

xxxxxx dust

zayja · 17/01/2010 23:10

Isn't it nice to be in good company, and have advice from people going through the same? Thanks clure for the heads up on evening primrose oil. Reading Toni Weschler's fertility book, and she makes the point that cm is the most important fertility sign. I've been a bit lacking of it for a while so need to try something else. I suppose drinking more water wouldn't hurt either...
carebear, tried acupuncture but ran into a real quack who was not very helpful. I've heard it really can help, but I'd do some research before choosing a practitioner - or get recommendations.
DH and I started a diet today and weighed in and he's a stone lighter than me! Well, made a big pot of soup for the work week and some granola bars for breakfast. Hoping I can stick with it this time.

Chicken soup baby dust to you all - feel better! xxxxx
