could i be pregnant or is it wishful thinking?

Hi everyone,hope theres someone who can give me abit of info.Im not yet due,few more days to go.There is a good chance i could be pg and deep down im sure i feel it, but there again that could be because i would like to be,(imagining it).The thing is i have got painful boobs at the side as though im going to come on and ive never had that when pg before.I also keep having crampy like pains low down in my stomach which i know could also be (period on its way).Has anyone else had any of these symptoms this early and been pg, or do you think that im not caught this time and my symptoms are due to a period on the way.Inever normally have stomach cramps until the actual day before im due or even on the day.

I've had these symptoms & been pregnant. I also "knew" that I was pregnant before missing a period with all but 1 of my pregnancies. Trouble is that sometimes you so want to be that you convince yourself you are & that you know you are. It's only looking back when you realise there is a huge difference when you really are.

Could be period imminent OR early pg. Symptoms tend to be the same. Rambled a bit but hope this helps.

I had exactly the same symptoms a week before my period was due and I was pregnant. However the symptoms could be period coming so don't get your hopes up

Hi still got the symptoms,but not due until sat/sun.Would love to here about anyone elses pg symptoms before they actually found out.

Dino55 - I did a pregnancy test a week before my period was due! It was negative, I waited 3 weeks and did another... positive!! I was only 4-5 weeks pregnant. I got period pains as normal for the first 3 months to the point that I thought I was miscarrying each month!

I had very sore boobs, that was my tell-tale sign..... so sore that I could hardly bare to put a bra on!

Good luck, fingerscrossed for you. If your period isn't due for another week it could be you ovulating...... get at it girl!

I had really sore boobs (before I took the test) which is something I don't suffer from with my periods. I took my test around the time I thought I'd be coming on. I also felt quite crampy but not as strong as with periods. Sounds like you might be but try not to be too disappointed if you're not.... Good luck

one of my closest friends is going through this - she had trouble conceiving her dd first time around and is desperate for another. She's due on in a couple of days (I think I've got that right) but has been feeling really sick on and off for past three days. Could it be morning sickness this early? She's done a test which was negative -but it does say to wait until day period is due. I've tried telling her not to get too excited - would hate to see her disappointed - but do wonder why, if there are enough hormones running round her body to give her morning sickness, the test was negative. Maybe she has just got a bug and it is all wishful thinking? Really don't know - although am sure all will become clear pretty soon! However, if anyone has any comments to help me help her through the next few days I'd be grateful.

Hi All, I also have the sore boobs and think I am about 3 or 4 days late unless I have completely miscalculated! Did test today which came up negative. I have Crohns disease so don't know if this would affect the test. Good Luck Dino 55. I will try another test tomorrow morning as they say there are more hormones in first thing in the morning. Fingers crossed!!

Think the odds are probably stacked against me - as well as the Crohns - I am 41 -what do you think my chances are?? Anyone got any experiences with all the above and can offer advice.

At 40 the average woman has a 70% chance of getting p/g in a year. You do become progressively less fertile and the chances at 45 are very slim. But I think the chances at 40 statistics are pretty encouraging, don't you?

To all those with sore boobs as a pg symptom: I had them with my 1st pg but can't remember when they started hurting. At what point after conception did yours start (approx)? Ta xx

Der - I've just done a search and found out that I said it was about 10 days last time. Well, they've just started aching today (9th day) and I obviously have no brain cells at the mo so fingers crossed... I'm taking a test next Sat.

Looks like I had my dates totally out as I came on Friday evening - so no luck this month! Fingers (but not legs!)crossed for next month!
Ghosty and Moomin - good luck to you both. Also Dino55 - good luck to you too..... we seem to have the same cycle so if I get my dates all mixed up again I will have to ask you when I'm due. Thanks to all for your support - it's really lovely to know that we are all gunning for each other.

I agree caz61. Since my last posting I have felt unbelievably excited and keep checking my boobs (which must look most bizarre). Have found it hard to sleep last night, hence early morning posting. I know that the hype can carry you a long way, but I DO feel different. However, it's helped reading these messages because I know that whether I am or I'm not, there will be lots of support here. I need to be brought down to earth a bit otherwise this week will be eternal...

I must add some possible hope for all here ttc. I decided this month not to keep a religious track of my cycle and just try to relax, so I hadn't checked my dates. On the run-up to last weekend, though, had an enormas rush of lust for dh and couldn't wait to ravish him when he got back from work. (He obviously thought it was his birthday!) As I was waiting to pounce, went to the loo and (sorry in advance if you're squeamish) discovered that stretchy egg-white mucus that you're supposed to have when you're ovulating. Ravished dh several times over the weekend, then checked the ovulation calculator on babycentre.co.uk and BINGO! I was spot-on. I was thinking at the time that if I was going to get pg, this would be the month as everything just fell into place naturally, iykwim. I felt really in tune with my body and what it wanted (ie: sex!) and I wasn't just hunched over a calendar.

Did something very stupid last night and now I feel all depressed... boobs have been a bit sore (although nothing like when I was pg with dd, when I couldn't bear people even looking in their direction in case it hurt - this is more like they're sore at the sides or underneath when I feel them). Have also felt a bit sicky but then again came down with dh's cold this week, so who knows? Anyway, I'm due my period on Monday. Was going to take a test on Sat or Sun morning as we have a couple of parties so, being the saddo Sue Ellen I am, I wanted to see if I would be able to drink or not. I'm so embarrassed but I have to admit - I did a test last night (Weds) which is 5 days before I was due on - surprise (not) - it was neg. Beacuse I was feeling a bit rough I thought it might show at least a bit of a sign on the pg hormone in my system. Now I just feel stupid and also not very pg.

Don't be embarrassed!!

I did a test a week before I was due! Which was negative. Then another 3 weeks later, which was positive.

Just give it another few days.

Can't believe it - I'm NOT pg! My boobs have been gettingmore painful as the week's gone on. I've also felt really hungry and and a bit sick. Woke up this morning and weed on the stick. Sat on the loo for 3 mins. Test was negative and then when I wiped myself found that I'd come on - 2 days early!!! How unfair's that?! I really was convinced I was pg. I've never had sore boobs unless I was pg. My body has played a really cruel trick on me this month. I wonder if I'll start getting sore boobs before my period every month now, just to confuse matters?!
To tell the truth, I think dh's is more gutted than me - I'd just started recalling in detail the realities of pregnancy.... But nevertheless, it does seem very strange. I feel like a bit of a fraud now after being so hyped up...

Moomin - I think our brain or psyche have a way of tricking us - we are trying to will our bodies to become pg and this filters through to our brain which appears to give us the pg symptoms. A very cruel quirk indeed. I must ask my sister about this - she is a psychologist!
Keep your pecker up (and his of course!) and fingers crossed for next month.

DH and I were trying for 6 mo b4 we hit the jackpot and every month I was CONVINCED that I was preg, it wasn't until the 6th month when I 'knew' that I wasn't preg that the test came up positive !

For me it was definitely that I wanted it soooooo much that I'd almost convinced my body to produce the symptoms.

Moomin ... I am sorry you have had no luck this month ... gut wrenching isn't it? I am due on today and haven't come on yet but after last month's debacle I am not getting my hopes up AT ALL!! I will just crack on with my wheat free diet and bonk like crazy next month ...
Have decided not to go on the pill this month like my Doc suggested (to regulate my periods) ... just don't see the point at this time!!
